Sr. Data Analyst
Location: Los Angeles CA

The Senior Data Analyst will work with the broader client ventures, technology and Data Science teams and is responsible for defining products, analysing the competitive landscape, and providing insights along with supportive data to business teams across client ventures to help shape strategic thinking.
 
What You Will Do

• Translate Key Goals into Actionable Products:   Understand key focus areas of client v entures and work collaboratively with stakeholders to build products and reports that provide actionable insights
• Conduct Research & Analysis . Understand key industry sectors, trends and news within specific categories identified by the client v entures team.
• Develop and Maintain Reporting Systems : Produce ongoing and recurring reports for internal use by business teams including dashboards, emails reports and ad-hoc reporting
• Data Ownership : Own the Ventures data platform through partnership with technology and data science. This could include research tools and licensed data sources and first-party data from our portfolio companies, social media and other sources
• Set and Manage Benchmarks: Working closely with Ventures team to define key deliverables, benchmarks and helping evolve the platform over time. The ideal candidate will understand industry benchmarks/
• Analysis & Storytelling.  Translates complex data into insights and compelling stories and cross-references data sets to offer comprehensive insights and analyses, providing practical, business-oriented, and actionable findings and recommendations.
• Prepare Material and Presentations . Create and communicate presentations and other materials related to key strategic initiatives and industry trends.

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
• Bachelors' or Masters' in Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, MIS, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in areas like Operations Analytics, Supply Chain Analytics and Marketing Analytics
• 3+ years of Python or R experience writing, managing and deploying code
• Understanding of Cloud based services in AWS or Azure.
• 3+ years of experience in designing and developing visualization solutions using PowerBI, Tableau, or equivalent enterprise data visualization software
• Experience in data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns
• 3+ years of experience in SQL for complex querying, analysis, performance optimization, and persisting data
• Experience working in a "big-data” environment (Hadoop, Hive, Presto, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts, design, modeling and high-level collaboration with data engineers
• Comfort with high volumes of unstructured and structured data, with the ability to leverage multiple datasets to draw both granular and big picture conclusions
• Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders across the organization to define and build actionable products
• Experience in summarizing analysis into succinct written briefs/presentations
• Demonstrates curiosity around macro trends and current events
• Knowledge of and ability to stay current on industry and technology trends along with the ability to quickly learn new tools and software.
• Experience with event tracking and analytics tools such as Segment, Google Analytics, etc.
• Knowledge of venture capital, private equity, media, culture and start-ups
• Excellent academic track record from top-tier university
• Team player, proactive, results-oriented, problem-solver, strategic thinker, highly organized, flexible, strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to engage with clients, agents, management, legal and senior leadership
