Job Description

The office of Jeff Kibble, Member of Parliament for Cowichan-Malahat-Langford, is currently looking to fill the position of Caseworker.

Reporting to the Member of Parliament, the Caseworker supports constituents in navigating federal programs and services. The incumbent advocates on behalf of constituents, liaises with government departments and agencies, and provides timely updates on case progress.

This role requires strong problem-solving skills, discretion, empathy, and a solid understanding of government processes.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Handle and respond to constituent inquiries—in writing, over the phone, and in person—with professionalism, discretion, and empathy.
  • Advocate on behalf of constituents by liaising with government departments and agencies to resolve complex or time-sensitive issues.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of constituent interactions, correspondence, and case progress.
  • Provide timely updates to constituents on the status of their files and next steps.
  • Track trends and emerging issues in the riding that may require the Member’s attention or broader policy consideration.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community groups and stakeholders.
  • Provide administrative support to the office as needed, including correspondence, scheduling, and reception duties.

Working conditions:

  • This role includes a requirement to work on-site at the Duncan office for a minimum of four hours per week.
  • Candidates must also possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.
  • There is flexibility for the position to be either full-time or part-time.
  • The expected start date for this position is July 27, 2026.
  • Salary to be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Post-secondary education from a recognized institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience.

Experiences:

  • 1–3 years of experience in casework management or in a client-service role.
  • Experience providing administrative or front-desk support in an office environment.
  • Strong understanding of federal government programs, services and government processes.
  • Strong ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and attention to details.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced political environment.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Assets:

  • Experience working in a client service or case management role, preferably within government social services or the non-profit sector.
  • Experience working in a politically sensitive or public-facing environment.
