Job Description

Perform construction management services at Los Angeles National Cemetery in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) National Cemetery Administration. Work may involve night shifts and/or weekends.

Conduct daily inspections of site work, building construction work; documents discrepancies, code violations, improper materials or techniques in the application of materials, substandard or poor-quality workmanship; monitors schedules on various aspects of ongoing daily activities to identify and mitigate project slippage and coordinate project phasing.

Review submittals and RFIs. Conduct/attend weekly project meetings. Review testing/inspection reports. Revise proposed utility services and/or traffic interruption plans. Maintain materials/supplies inventory. Assist in documentation of change orders. Perform weekly Safety Inspection and Prepare Safety Inspection Reports. Preform daily manpower and work activity reports.

Review requests for payment. Preparing estimates for changes and review change quotes. Identify progress delays. Maintain project plans and specs. Compile deficiency logs and follow up on correction. Prepare inspection punch lists and coordinate resolutions of items. Coordinate inspections and testing with outside entities. Take digital photos of construction progress. Assist with contract close-out activities.

Qualifications

·         10+ years’ hands on construction and construction QA experience to include utilities, drainage, earthwork, site work, irrigation, contract documents, submittals, RFIs, and considerable overlap with other construction trades (i.e. architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, irrigation, landscaping, hardscaping)

·         Background with historical preservation HIGHLY desired

·         Cemetery experience a plus

·         Federal experience with buildings, utilities and civil projects of comparable size and complexity

·         Experience in civil/site development as well as MEP concerns

·         Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred or 10+ years’ field experience in lieu of degree

·         Knowledge of relevant building codes, standards and regulations

·         Current OSHA 30 certification

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include English fluency per federal contract

·         Working proficiency on MS Office applications

·         Strong organization and time management skills
