Job Description

We are growing and need you on the A/E team! HFS is seeking a creative, highly talented Electrical Engineer for production of construction documents and engineering studies for government, healthcare, educational and commercial clients. Tasks include: 

  • Conduct engineering studies of power and low voltage systems; survey existing conditions, evaluate capacities, and make recommendations for corrections and upgrades
  • Design electrical systems ranging from simple to complex including power, lighting, distribution systems, heat trace, and equipment installation designs
  • Perform short circuit analysis, arc flash analysis, overcurrent protective device coordination and review of power quality and reliability

·         Perform accurate calculations to support system designs 

·         Write technical specifications, sequence of operations, testing documents and reports

·         Attend design review and construction meetings with customers

·         Conduct site visits and field QA/QC and system deficiency reviews

·         Coordination with design team from inception to completion on a project-specific basis

  • Flexibility, if called upon, to act as project manager on various other projects when needed outside of your expertise

Qualifications

Qualifications:

·         BSEE or equivalent degree from an accredited university

·         Professional Engineer (PE) registration required

·         5+ years recent experience in Electrical Engineering design for building construction projects including low voltage systems

·         Thorough understanding of basic NEC requirements, including electrical clearances, circuit sizing, de-rating, motor circuit design, transformer feeder design and separation of class 1/2/3 wiring.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Highly organized with a focus on results

·         Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) 

·         Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD

  • Ability to learn quickly and grasp new concepts, especially as they relate to engineering and construction.
  • Federal, healthcare facility and LEED experience a plus
