Job Description

Serve as Inspector on a wide variety of construction projects covering HVAC, plumbing, electrical, foundation and framing work, carpentry, etc.

Prepare quality assurance plan for project and monitor adherence. Review the construction contractor’s Quality Control Plan and daily QC reports; Safety Plan, Schedule of Prices, Progress Schedules, and Network Analysis Diagrams (CPM’s), Environmental Protection Plan, Asbestos Plan, and submittal register for conformance with contract requirements and good practice. Prepare detailed written report with recommendations.

Make technical interpretations of drawings and specifications to determine whether methods and materials employed meet the requirements of contract specifications. Coordinate work between Contractors' personnel and onsite client to assure timely and satisfactory accomplishment of all assigned projects. Provide recommendations concerning the acceptability of construction progress reports and contract performance, and other reports concerning the progress of construction. Review contract and construction deficiencies and other factors impacting, or with the potential to impact, timely execution of the project, and provide written comments/recommendations.

Provide advice and assistance in preparing estimates; materials, labor, equipment, indirect elements, etc. Provide notice of potential claims or disputes and potential disputed interpretations or contract documents.

Review ongoing work to verify materials & workmanship conform to contract requirements. Submit daily QA Reports with emphasis on deficiencies found. Monitor contractor’s tracking of deficiencies and acceptable corrective actions taken.

Attend and participate in preconstruction conferences, quality control coordination meetings, in progress reviews, etc. Prepare agendas and minutes.

Assist in conducting routine labor compliance reviews, including contractor payrolls. Arrange for and coordinate requests for passes, outages, excavation permits, hot work permits, hauling, and delivery routes. Prepare Requests for Change Proposals and develop scope of work.

Perform detailed comprehensive final acceptance inspection upon completion of work required.

Qualifications

·         15+ years facilities engineering & construction experience with knowledge of the principles, concepts and techniques of the construction quality assurance/inspection process.

·         5+ years of specialized experience in the various general disciplines involved in the construction of facilities at a large military installation.

·         Knowledge of relevant building codes, standards and regulations.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook

·         Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United Sates on a full-time basis; HFS Company does not sponsor individuals for employment visas.

Work involves moderate to significant physical effort as well as some sedentary duties. Environment is frequently outdoors in extreme temperatures; may include severe weather. Position requires walking, standing, reaching, bending and moving items and may involve heavy lifting. Position may involve driving to multiple locations daily. Mileage is reimbursed.
