Job Description

We're looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Kubernetes Developer to join our growing engineering team in Toronto, Canada. In this role, you will design, deploy, and maintain scalable Kubernetes infrastructure that powers our cloud-native applications. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to optimize container orchestration, improve system reliability, and implement infrastructure best practices. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in Kubernetes ecosystems and a commitment to operational excellence.

  • Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters in production environments, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or Helm to automate infrastructure provisioning
  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to streamline application deployment and release processes
  • Configure and manage container networking, storage, and security policies within Kubernetes environments
  • Monitor cluster health and application performance using tools like Prometheus and Grafana; troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently
  • Implement logging and observability solutions to ensure comprehensive system visibility and diagnostics
  • Collaborate with development teams to containerize applications and optimize Docker images for production use
  • Document infrastructure architecture, configurations, and runbooks to maintain organized and accessible knowledge bases
  • Stay current with Kubernetes updates, security patches, and emerging cloud-native technologies
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide timely incident response and resolution

Qualifications

**Required Skills and Experience:**

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or cloud platform administration
  • Strong proficiency in container technologies, particularly Docker and container orchestration
  • Demonstrated expertise with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Solid understanding of Linux/Unix system administration and command-line tools
  • Experience writing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools
  • Proficiency in YAML configuration and Kubernetes manifest files
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent)
  • Strong networking fundamentals including DNS, load balancing, and service discovery concepts
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting systems in distributed environments

**Preferred Skills and Experience:**

  • Experience with Helm charts and package management for Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd
  • Knowledge of GitOps practices and tools (ArgoCD, Flux)
  • Scripting experience in Python, Go, or Bash
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and cloud-native design patterns
  • Experience with Kubernetes security best practices and policy enforcement
  • Familiarity with storage solutions and persistent volume management
  • Knowledge of API gateway and ingress controller configurations
