Job Description

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Administrator to join our Community Engagement team on a part-time basis, working 20 hours per week (either 5 x 4 hour days or 4 x 5 hour days). We offer flexible working options, and a laptop and mobile phone is provided to enable you to do so.

Hato Hone St John is at the heart of our communities throughout New Zealand. We're also part of a much broader picture of health care, through our provision of first aid training, event medical services, AEDs (defibrillators), first aid kits and supplies, medical alarms and our community services which provide a wide range of volunteer programmes in local communities such as youth groups, health shuttles, pet therapy, friends of the emergency department, hospital friends to name a few.

Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager you will be responsible for providing a high level of administrative support to the Area Committees in the North Otago/South Canterbury area, with a focus on Oamaru, Waimate, Waitaki and Twizel. Hato Hone St John Area Committees are made up of highly valued Tūao (volunteers) who have a strong community focus. Therefore, we are seeking someone who brings equal passion for meeting community needs and ideally links within the local community.

This role will see you primarily responsible for recording and processing all mail and invoices, preparing and monitoring accounts, and co-ordinating and preparing documentation (including taking minutes) for committee hui, along with other general administrative tasks.

There is scope for growth and development in this role including opportunities to help promote and support local fundraising initiatives, therefore essential to this role is the ability to establish, build and maintain relationships.

Qualifications

To be successful you will:

  • have strong organisation skills and excellent attention to detail
  • be confident working across the MS Office suite
  • have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • have previous administration and/or accounting experience
  • have a high level of professionalism and a 'can-do' attitude 
  • exceptional customer service skills, and a genuine desire to help others
  • have flexibility to work outside of normal business hours occasionally
