We’re looking for a driven and collaborative professional to join our City Investment Unit and help unlock opportunities that deliver real benefits for Hamilton.
As part of the City Investment Unit, you’ll play a central role in delivering programmes and activities that optimise investment. Working closely with the City Investment Director, you will support the delivery of key initiatives that enhance city outcomes and enable the development of important infrastructure and community-focused projects.
This role requires someone who can confidently navigate a variety of projects, influence for positive outcomes, and build strong relationships across Council and with external partners. You’ll be comfortable working with imperfect information, adapting to change, and bringing clarity and structure where needed.
Day to day you will:
- Take ownership of the grants lifecycle – planning, applying, managing relationships, and reporting.
- Deliver strong, persuasive proposals that showcase Hamilton’s priorities and potential.
- Spot and grow funding opportunities year on year.
- Keep systems, processes, and CRM records running smoothly and accurately.
- Provide trusted advice across programmes as needed.

We’re seeking someone who strives to be the best version of themselves and brings a positive, proactive approach to their work. You will bring:
- Proven experience in fundraising securing grants.
- Strong ability to work independently, anticipate needs, and plan your workload effectively.
- Adaptability and comfort working in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity.
- A can-do attitude and willingness to contribute wherever needed.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders (internal and external).
- Experience using CRM systems and confidence leveraging AI tools.
- A passion for making a meaningful impact for our community and city.
- An understanding of local and central government obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The salary for this role starts at $78,223 dependent on skills and experience.
