Job Description

About the opportunity 
As a Research Accountant, you’ll be an important part of our Research Reporting & Compliance team. This team is tasked with preparing and signing off on research project financial statements, managing various accounting functions such as journal preparation and budget management, and ensuring compliance with research financial reporting standards.

This customer-focused role involves liaising with internal Chief Investigators and external funding bodies. You will assist with requests related to financial statements, project closures, and other research reporting issues, ensuring accuracy and compliance throughout the process. The position also promotes knowledge sharing and problem-solving to foster continuous improvement.

In this role, a typical day involves overseeing the reporting and compliance aspects of a portfolio of research projects, prioritising tasks, and collaborating with Chief Investigators to meet deadlines. You will ensure data accuracy within your portfolio by creating and updating project budgets and processing journals promptly.

You will also have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualifications and relevant work experience, along with membership of a professionally accredited accounting organisation.
  • The ability to perform under pressure, adhering to university procedures and accurately preparing financial statements within defined deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills with exceptional prioritisation and multitasking abilities.
  • Demonstrated motivation, analytical thinking, and a keen attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to promoting ideas for change.

What we can offer
This is a fixed term, full time position through to 28 July 2028, which is based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations.

Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
HEW 6 salary - base range - $94,966.18 - $101,295.51 + 17% super. Full package range - $111,110.42 - $118,515.75.
