Job Title: Lead – Machine Learning / LLM Engineering manager

📍 Location: Remote

⏱️ Contract Duration: 6 Months (Renewable based on performance and project requirements)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning (ML) / LLM Engineering Lead to drive large-scale AI and ML initiatives from concept to production. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Machine Learning, NLP, and Large Language Models (LLMs), with proven experience in leading technical teams and managing distributed training, deployment, and MLOps operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage cross-functional teams including ML Engineers, Data Scientists, and MLOps professionals.

• Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of ML/LLM projects — from ideation, data strategy, and model training to deployment and monitoring.

• Define project roadmaps, success metrics, and deliverables in collaboration with Product, Research, and Infrastructure teams.

• Provide technical leadership in training and fine-tuning large models using distributed systems.

• Establish MLOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, model governance, experiment tracking, and deployment standards.

• Manage compute resources, scalability, and cost efficiency across GPU/TPU infrastructure.

• Ensure compliance with Responsible AI principles, data security, and regulatory standards.

• Communicate project progress, risks, and outcomes to executive stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 9+ years of experience in Machine Learning, NLP, and Deep Learning Architectures (Transformers, LLMs).

• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, DeepSpeed.

• Minimum 2 years of experience leading teams building and deploying ML/LLM models in production.

• Strong understanding of distributed training, GPU/TPU optimization, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

• Experience with MLOps tools like MLflow, Kubeflow, Vertex AI, or equivalent.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (PhD preferred).

Nice to Have:

• Experience in fine-tuning large foundation models.

• Contributions to open-source ML/LLM projects.

• Knowledge of Responsible AI, fairness, and explainability in model deployment.
