Job Description
Reporting to the Program Director, Galileo X, the Expansion Program Manager is responsible for launching new camp locations in underserved or geographically isolated areas.
As the go-to "Starter PM," you will help establish Galileo’s presence in new regions, acting as the primary manager for these new camp locations. Your role involves overseeing the operational setup, training local camp directors, and ensuring that all logistical and cultural aspects of Galileo’s camps are implemented smoothly.
YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
New Territory Development: Travel to these new areas to ensure the successful setup of all operations:
Pre-Season: Expect to travel 3-5 trips between February -June for partner meetings and initial facility set up
Camp Season: Be the primary on site manager and first point of contact for new camp locations in isolated regions. Expect to be located in these new regions full time June - August
Training and Support: Train local Camp Directors and staff, ensuring they understand Galileo’s culture, operational standards, and programming.
Regional Expansion Expertise: Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify, prepare, and execute expansion strategies in new areas.
Operational Oversight: Oversee the logistical and day-to-day operations of new camp locations during the summer season, ensuring all activities are in line with Galileo's quality standards.
Team Leadership: Serve as a direct supervisor, mentor, and coach for a team of Camp Directors in these new regions, helping them manage their own teams and resolve operational issues.
Pinch Point Planning: Proactively plan for and identify potential pinch points (e.g., summer travel challenges) to ensure minimal disruptions in new territories. Serve as an escalation point for your team on issues or challenges that they do not feel prepared to resolve on their own; assist in resolution that balances customer care and program needs.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Liaise with marketing, customer service, supply chain, and people operations to customize operations for new camp territories.

COMPENSATION
At Galileo, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. We anticipate the total compensation for this full-time, exempt position to be $80,000 - $95,000 in California. The exact offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including geography, relevant skills, and professional experience.
Our pay practices are guided by a commitment to equity and informed by market benchmarking and internal audits to minimize bias and ensure fairness across all roles.

WORK LOCATION
HYBRID: Remote work-from-home September - May: location is possible in the following states: California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Texas, North Carolina, New York, or Washington. We are currently only able to employ candidates who are based in the states listed here. On-Site June - August: at assigned expansion region.
SCHEDULE & TIME COMMITMENT
This is a full-time position, averaging 40 hours per week. While we prioritize work-life balance, there may be times when additional hours are necessary to meet deadlines and ensure the success of our programs. Additionally, HQ staff are expected to visit camp locations from June through August to experience camp first-hand and support our teams on the ground.
Qualifications
3+ years multi-site management experience in youth programming is required
2+ years of direct management of on-site teams of at least 20 staff
Proven experience with launching and managing multi-site programs
Willingness to travel and work in isolated regions for 6-8 weeks during the summer season
Professional examples of strong leadership and proactive problem-solving skills.

Additional Information
