MUST HAVE : Experience working for Freight Forwarding Companies

Job Purpose:

To assist the Manager – Ocean to direct and control an EIO export team as well as provide quality services to customers of EIO Export accounts in order to maximize the business growth and profits objectives of the Division.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. To ensure that team assignments and operational procedures effectively meet customers’ needs.
  2. To establish work standard and monitor staff performance in the areas of handling phone calls, shipping arrangements, communication, data entry and transmission, documentation, operations KPI, and problem resolution
  3. To maintain close ties with shipping community and keep abreast of current market while keeping close contacts with major vendors and agents.
  4. To maximize shipping revenues and minimize shipping expenses to achieve optimum profitability.
  5. To develop business plan/or pricing scheme for new business opportunities, and handle customers’ claims and conduct business presentations.
  6. To provide reports and analysis for management’s information.
  7. To monitor staff performance and conduct annual performance appraisal for recommendations of staff annual increment.
  8. To meet carriers, vendors, overseas customers to develop relationship, maintain current business or explore potential business opportunities.
  9. To take up additional assignments as required to meet with the Company needs.

Qualifications

  • University Graduate with minimum 5-10 years’ experience in Ocean Transportation services with solid market sense.
  • Strong shipping and consolidation skills in USA market preferred. Good relationship with steamship line.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and team management skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Additional Information

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage, develop and train the export staff in areas of shipping and export administration regulations and procedures to provide excellent customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish pricing for both ocean and air opportunities, possessing a thorough understanding of tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of merchandise exported to foreign destinations.
  • Identify areas of concern in the clients' export processes through monitoring of team performance against company and client standards, regular audit of shipment documents and accounting, and periodic client reviews.
  • Ensure team is in full compliance with Governmental regulatory bodies (FMC, IATA, TSA, etc.) in order to protect core legal and financial position.
  • Audit documents/processes including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of exported commodities.
  • Audit files closings to ensure timely invoicing and maximum profitability
  • Review, approve, and assist with the development of written procedures for handling each account, including schedule of service fees, shipment and booking process, and any other related information.
  • On-board clients to be handled within your team, creating seamless transitions, maximizing client retention.
  • Communicate operational and commercial needs of the branch and the branch's clients to overseas colleagues, guaranteeing operational consistency and customer satisfaction

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS Required or Equivalent Work Experience
  • 4-6 years’ experience in export operations (Air and Ocean) with 2+ years in a supervisory role
  • Cargowise experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
