Established in 2007, Feeding San Diego rescues surplus food from local and national food donors before it goes to waste and gets it to people facing hunger in San Diego County. Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Neighborhood Partnerships Manager, the Assistant Neighborhood Partnerships Manager provides operational and administrative support for the Partnerships team while coordinating the day-to-day operations and implementation of Feeding San Diego Programs. This position ensures an excellent experience externally for partners and internally with Feeding San Diego staff who support the mission of Feeding San Diego. Imperative to this role is a positive attitude, strong interpersonal communication skills, act as a role model to others on the team, and interaction with individuals from various backgrounds. In addition, the Assistant Neighborhood Partnerships Manager may be required to complete other tasks as assigned by the Neighborhood Partnerships Manager in support of Feeding San Diego’s mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities are those considered to be essential but do not represent all the job functions that may be required to be performed by this position.  Other comparable duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.  Occasional evening or weekend work is required as a condition of employment.

Partnership Engagement (30%)

  • Attend weekly cross-functional Food Flow meetings and speak on behalf of the team if the assigned Coordinator is unable to attend
  • Attend bi-monthly cross-functional Relationship Flow meetings on behalf of the team if the assigned Coordinator is unable to attend
  • Representing FSD to community groups and the public through active participation at meetings and involvement in events throughout the community
  • Attend monthly food safety committee meetings
  • Complete site visits in each region once a month with regional Partnership Coordinators
  • Collaborate with Feeding America Director of Member Engagement and Department of Environmental Health for subject matter expert advice, as required
  • Assist/attend the Agency Advisory Council in the absence of FSD liaison
  • Other duties as assigned

Partnership Logistics (30%)

  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures as needed
  • Routinely review agency Salesforce accounts for compliance to ensure Feeding America guidelines are upheld
  • Oversee the assigned Coordinator sending out food recall emails to agency partners on receipt of notifications
  • Screen prospective partners and support them through the onboarding process
  • Maintain Ceres database related to agency partner status with AE3 team lead
  • Update Agency Partner Portal on Feeding San Diego’s website as needed
  • Update Agency Handbook with Manager on an annual basis in January
  • Send Partnership Coordinators Monthly Accounts Receivables report with appropriate action items under the guidance of the Finance department
  • Create and send monthly and quarterly surveys to agency partners
  • Oversee agency partners are meeting required grant expectations/contracts with their respective coordinators
  • Other duties as assigned

Partnership Management (40%)

  • Lead monthly compliance meetings for Partnership Coordinators
  • Lead bi-weekly status calls with individual Partnership Coordinators in the Managers’ absence
  • Lead weekly team meeting on behalf of the Neighborhood Partnerships Manager (if unable) to attend
  • Train and onboard new Partnership Coordinators
  • Support Partnership Coordinators for Agency Express (AE3) platform usage with AE3 team leader
  • Problem-solved with Partnership Coordinators when issues or concerns arise with partner agencies
  • Support Partnership Coordinators with logistics and details for planning and executing special events put on by partners when approved
  • Assist the Manager in planning any Agency Partner events throughout the year
  • Establish and maintain exemplary interactions with partners, donors, and coworkers
  • Encourage and plan quarterly team bonding activities with the Manager
  • Create and maintain all FSD training related to Agency Partners
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Shared responsibilities of five Partnership Coordinators with the Neighborhood Partnerships Manager.

INTERACTION

This position will interact closely with Supply Chain, Development, Marketing & Communications, and Operations departments. The position also requires frequent interaction with all FSD staff and volunteers of our community.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE

Required

    • At least a 2-year associates degree from an accredited college or university
    • A minimum of 1-year experience as an employee at Feeding San Diego
    • A minimum of 1-year experience working with members of underrepresented groups
    • A minimum of 1-year of professional experience involving competing priorities, deadlines, and constant multi-tasking
    • Food Safety Training Certified

Preferred

  • B.A degree from an accredited university or college in a field related to Social Science, Food Studies, Public Health or Communications OR
  • A minimum of 2+ years of professional experience involving competing priorities, deadlines, and problem-solving
  • A minimum of 2+ years of work experience in food service, grocery, food distribution organization or professional / volunteer experience in food security, hunger-relief work, or a community-based organization
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, or English and another Non-English language
  • Previous experience working with the community

Any combination of education and work experience equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration for this position.

  • Strong proficiency in Ceres, Salesforce, Smartsheet, MealConnect and data management programs
  • A professional demeanor with an aptitude for problem solving
  • Possess solid relationship-building, interpersonal skills, and a mature understanding of cultural competence
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and public speaking skills
  • Accurate and detail oriented, possess strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a complex and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • High degree of independence, flexibility, initiative, and commitment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of nonprofit organizational practices
  • Passion for and commitment to Feeding San Diego’s mission to alleviate hunger and food insecurity

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Agency’s insurance carrier standards.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee will be asked to successfully perform to fulfill the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly expected to:

  • Performs work in an office and warehouse space housing warehouse operations, which may occasionally create an exposure to dust and pollen
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods, walk, bend at the waist and knees, kneel and use hands, arms and legs for dexterity, balance and climb stairs frequently. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods
  • May lift, carry and balance objects weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Pulls and pushes such objects as file drawers and supplies
  • Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory, concentration and analytical thinking
  • Occasionally it is required to perform the safe operation office equipment and machines, and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace
  • Must be able to hear, see including peripheral vision and distinction of colors, read and communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from divergent socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and origins
  • The noise level in the work environment varies and can be considered moderate.

$27 - $30 per hour
