Job Description
The Role
The Grains Analyst is responsible for delivering market intelligence, price forecasting, and analytical insights across global corn, barley, and wheat markets. This role strengthens Fastmarkets’ grains coverage by producing timely commentary, enhancing analytical methodologies, and supporting the commercialization of our agriculture analytics products.
The analyst will play a key role in evolving our grains analytics offering, currently focused on monthly forecasting and short‑term commentary and expanding our capabilities in line with client demand for transparent, actionable insights across feed, food, and biofuel‑linked grain markets.
The ideal candidate is interested in economic and commodity market research and will thrive in a fast-paced and innovative environment, have a can-do attitude, juggle various tasks and projects, and meet deadlines.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Data gathering, analysis, and forecasting
- Producing written commentary, fundamental outlooks, data visualizations, and price forecasts
- Building industry knowledge and contacts
- Client contact and presentations

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.
- Understanding of global food and feed grain production regions and their trade interdependencies
- Familiarity with how global energy policy impacts agricultural product supply and demand
- Experience building or maintaining commodity supply/demand models, price models, and short‑term forecasting processes.
- Experience supporting commercial teams or engaging clients with insights and market outlook commentary.
- Able to critically assess statistical analyses and forecast models and suggest improvements and develop new models
- Excellent written and verbal English
BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES
- Manage deadlines across multiple forecasting cycles with strong time‑management and task‑prioritization skills
- Willingness to learn new technological tools, new processes, or updated analytics workflows
- Maintain attention to detail in data, commentary, and forecasting outputs
- Communicate complex market drivers and forecasts clearly to both technical and commercial audiences
- Ensure commentary and forecasts are actionable and relevant to traders, processors, food companies, and biofuel participants
- Build strong relationships with colleagues in analytics, editorial, sales, data engineering/science, and consulting
