Job Description
About Ground Network Services (GNS)
Expeditors’ Ground Network Services provides a pan‑European linehaul network connecting major markets via centralized air, ocean, and road gateways. Fixed operating schedules and a long‑term procurement strategy deliver reliability and flexibility, while the network design enables agile routing options that absorb market disruptions and imbalances.
Role Summary
As, Ground Network Service Europe is responsible for overseeing the procurement, implementation, and operation efficiency of our linehaul network throughout Europe. The position plays a crucial role in assisting with network design, improving connections, and determining the optimal amount, placement, and type of capacity to ensure cost efficiency while driving operational excellence and productivity. This role also oversees compliance with local and international legislation related to asset rotation and scheduling of fleet vehicles.
What you’ll do
- Lead the strategy, design, and optimization of the European linehaul network
- Oversee day‑to‑day operational performance, KPIs, and exception management
- Manage capacity planning, contingencies, and seasonal demand fluctuations
- Lead carrier procurement, RFQs/RFPs, supplier negotiations, and performance reviews
- Own the regional transportation budget, costing models, and financial performance
- Ensure compliance with EU/UK transport legislation, safety, and risk standards
- Drive data‑led decision‑making, systems adoption, and continuous improvement
- Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing regional team and collaborate with senior stakeholders across functions
Qualifications
What you'll bring
- 8–10+ years’ experience in ground transportation or linehaul logistics, including regional leadership
- Strong background in carrier management, network planning, and supplier negotiations
- Proven experience managing large, complex, cross‑functional programmes
- Advanced analytical skills (Excel, Power BI) and familiarity with TMS and transport systems
- Solid knowledge of EU/UK road transport compliance
- Fluent English; additional European languages a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Transportation, Logistics, or related discipline (or equivalent experience). Preferred.
