Job Description

Responsible for tactical execution of all cartage related operations within a district. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Pick­up & Delivery Management

  1. Develop policies and processes to support pick­up & delivery within the district
  2. Establish and define intra­branch communication for all cartage operations
  3. Ensure that policies and plans formulated are in line with the organization's goals
  4. Organize and lead daily service reviews with primary cartage provider(s)
  5. Prepare periodic reports and present such reports to branch management
  6. Make recommendations for policy or service territory changes
  7. Collate data and information on customer stop costs & requirements
  8. Create policy & process for approving cartage network diversions
  9. Work with branch to establish standard service times and customer requests and advise branch when additional charges may be needed
  10. Develop new strategies to maintain or improve on the quality of service delivery
  11. Establish guidelines for all accessorial approvals & payments
  12. Develop strategies to increase profit and minimize cost incurred on service delivery

Warehouse Operations

  1. Establish warehouse set­up for unloading and loading of all line haul consolidation to and from all pickup and delivery trucks.
  2. Facility set­up & equipment management
  3. Establish and oversee the processes required for all CFS needs and 3rd parties
  4. Establish staff and schedule requirements
  5. Troubleshoot manifest discrepancies and manage OS&D

Service Provider Management

  1. Ensure equipment requirements are in place at branches and hubs to facilitate operations and volatility
  2. Delay and exception coding and reporting
  3. Rate audits & payables approval
  4. Root cause analysis on service failures and corrective action as necessary
  5. Work with providers to flex operations and control costs to accommodate volatility in shipping volumes
  6. Accessorial approval and rate negotiation as assigned
  7. Conduct carrier review and provide costing and price support for product and sales teams

 

Qualifications

  1. The minimum requirement to become a service delivery manager is a bachelor's degree in a business related subject such as customer relations or retail management.
  2. Effective interpersonal skills, including proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
  3. Critical thinking using logic, data & qualitative reasoning
  4. Ability to develop, evaluate, and recommend best options
  5. Analytical with a strong attention to detail
  6. 5+ years transportation, logistics, distribution or related experience
  7. 2+ years people management
  8. Undergraduate degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or other related field preferred
  9. Industry certifications, a plus
  10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must speak English fluentl
  11. Must have Air & Ground DG Certification
