Job Description
Responsible for tactical execution of all cartage related operations within a district.
Duties & Responsibilities
Pickup & Delivery Management
- Develop policies and processes to support pickup & delivery within the district
- Establish and define intrabranch communication for all cartage operations
- Ensure that policies and plans formulated are in line with the organization's goals
- Organize and lead daily service reviews with primary cartage provider(s)
- Prepare periodic reports and present such reports to branch management
- Make recommendations for policy or service territory changes
- Collate data and information on customer stop costs & requirements
- Create policy & process for approving cartage network diversions
- Work with branch to establish standard service times and customer requests and advise branch when additional charges may be needed
- Develop new strategies to maintain or improve on the quality of service delivery
- Establish guidelines for all accessorial approvals & payments
- Develop strategies to increase profit and minimize cost incurred on service delivery
Warehouse Operations
- Establish warehouse setup for unloading and loading of all line haul consolidation to and from all pickup and delivery trucks.
- Facility setup & equipment management
- Establish and oversee the processes required for all CFS needs and 3rd parties
- Establish staff and schedule requirements
- Troubleshoot manifest discrepancies and manage OS&D
Service Provider Management
- Ensure equipment requirements are in place at branches and hubs to facilitate operations and volatility
- Delay and exception coding and reporting
- Rate audits & payables approval
- Root cause analysis on service failures and corrective action as necessary
- Work with providers to flex operations and control costs to accommodate volatility in shipping volumes
- Accessorial approval and rate negotiation as assigned
- Conduct carrier review and provide costing and price support for product and sales teams
Qualifications
- The minimum requirement to become a service delivery manager is a bachelor's degree in a business related subject such as customer relations or retail management.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
- Critical thinking using logic, data & qualitative reasoning
- Ability to develop, evaluate, and recommend best options
- Analytical with a strong attention to detail
- 5+ years transportation, logistics, distribution or related experience
- 2+ years people management
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or other related field preferred
- Industry certifications, a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must speak English fluentl
- Must have Air & Ground DG Certification
