Job Description
THE POSITION:
A Microsoft 365 Operations Engineer is responsible for the administration, optimization, and support of Microsoft 365 services across an organization. This role ensures the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of cloud-based productivity tools such as Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Intune. The engineer works closely with IT teams and business stakeholders to maintain system health, implement new features, and support digital workplace initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations & Administration
- Manage and maintain Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, Entra ID).
- Monitor system performance and availability; troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and licensing.
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and enforce security policies, compliance configurations, and data loss prevention strategies.
- Ensure least privilege access, audit logging, and password management.
- Collaborate with security teams to meet organizational standards.
Deployment & Optimization
- Plan and execute rollouts of new Microsoft 365 features and updates.
- Migrate data from legacy or on-premises systems to Microsoft 365.
- Continuously optimize environments through automation and best practices.
Support & Documentation
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for Microsoft 365-related issues.
- Create and maintain SOPs, documentation, guides, and checklists.
- Train users and support teams on Microsoft 365 tools and features.
Collaboration & Strategy
- Work with cross-functional teams to align Microsoft 365 solutions with business needs.
- Participate in operations handovers from project teams.
- Stay current with Microsoft 365 updates and industry trends.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE JOB:
- Travel: Less than 10%
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week

Qualifications
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365 administration and cloud technologies.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with Intune, SharePoint, Teams, and Exchange Online.
- 5 year’s experience in a similar role
- 10 years overall system administration or related experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-100, MS-101, or MCSA: Office 365) are preferred.

Office: While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to reach, grasp, stand and/or sit for long periods of time (up to 90% of the shift), walk, talk and hear; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet, with frequent interruptions and multiple demands.
