Job Description

Functional Analyst – Genomics LIMS (Healthcare Domain)

With facilities across Europe, the United States, and Asia, Eurofins Genomics is an internationally leading provider of DNA sequencing services, genotyping services, DNA synthesis products, bioinformatics services, and genomic testing for pharmaceutical, diagnostics, food, agriculture, biotechnology, and research markets.

The Genomics business is supported by global engineering teams building and enhancing Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), customer portals, laboratory automation platforms, and enterprise applications supporting Sanger Sequencing, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Arrays, Oligonucleotide Synthesis, and Sample Management.

As a Functional Analyst – Genomics LIMS, you will work closely with business stakeholders, laboratory operations, product owners, architects, and engineering teams to understand business processes, define functional requirements, and support the delivery of enterprise-scale laboratory solutions. You will play a key role in translating business needs into scalable technology solutions while ensuring compliance with healthcare and laboratory standards.

This role reports to a Project Manager / Senior Manager.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand laboratory workflows and business processes across Sanger, Sequencing, NGS, Arrays, and Sample Management.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
  • Act as the bridge between business users, laboratory operations, and engineering teams.
  • Support solution design, backlog management, and delivery throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive process improvements and standardization across global Genomics platforms.
  • Ensure solutions align with regulatory, operational, and business requirements.

Business Analysis & Requirements Management

  • Conduct workshops, stakeholder interviews, and requirement gathering sessions.
  • Create and maintain :
  • Business Requirement Documents (BRDs)
  • Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS)
  • User Stories and Acceptance Criteria
  • Process Flow Diagrams (BPMN/Visio)
  • Functional Design Documents
  • Perform impact analysis for new features and change requests.
  • Support backlog prioritization with Product Owners.
  • Healthcare & Laboratory Domain

 

  • Experience working in Healthcare, Diagnostics, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or Laboratory domains.
  • Strong understanding of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Understand laboratory workflows including:
  • Sample registration and accessioning
  • Order management
  • Laboratory processing
  • Quality Control (QC)
  • Sequencing workflows
  • Result validation
  • Reporting and customer delivery

Support business processes across :

  • Sanger Sequencing
  • Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)
  • Arrays
  • Oligonucleotide Production
  • Laboratory Automation
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory quality and regulatory standards.
  • Product & Solution Delivery


Work with Solution Architects and Development teams during solution design.
Validate business requirements throughout development.
Participate in Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Reviews, and UAT.
Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders.
Support production releases and change management activities.

  • Contribute to product roadmap discussions and future enhancements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Healthcare, or equivalent.
  • 9-12 years of experience as a Business Analyst.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting Healthcare, Genomics, or LIMS platforms.
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams.
  • Knowledge of GxP, ISO, CAP, CLIA, or other laboratory quality standards is an advantage.
  • Certification in CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Agile Business Analysis is desirable.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to bridge business needs with technology solutions in a global delivery environment.
  • Experience supporting LIMS implementations or enhancements.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL CRITERIA: Eurofins has a strong focus on Performance Management system. This includes quarterly calibrations, half-yearly reviews and annual reviews. The KPIs shall be set and may vary slightly between projects. These will be clearly communicated, documented during the first 30 days of your joining.
