Job Description
Overall Objectives
The Test Automation Engineer ensures quality and reliability for ADMS, the Eurofins Information Systems (EurIS) web-based CustomerRelationship Management application that standardizes sales and laboratory processes across Eurofins laboratories worldwide. The roleworks within the ADMS Development Team based in Dublin alongside Software Engineers, Business Analysts, and a SoftwareDevelopment Engineer in Test, building and maintaining automated test suites that cover functional and non-functional requirementsacross acceptance and deployment stages. The team delivers software using Agile/DevOps practices on a stack including C#, .NET,Angular, and DevOps tooling such as Docker, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, and Octopus.
Key Responsibilities
- You act as the dedicated Test Automation Engineer within a Scrum team of five collocated Software Engineers and oneSoftware Development Engineer in Test (SDET), integrating test automation at every stage of feature development.
- You contribute to test execution (acceptance, deployment, and more), build automation, and troubleshooting of selectedfunctional and non-functional requirements for target software applications and services, maintaining an automation ratio of80%.
- You perform exploratory testing in addition to automated User Interface (UI) tests to uncover usability issues, visual glitches,hidden defects, and functionality gaps.
- You apply Agile/Scrum/Kanban values and practices, particularly by participating in team meetings (stand-ups, backlogrefinement, acceptance criteria refinement) and performing incremental testing of the application.
- You follow continuous delivery practices by ensuring ADMS test suites are automated and systematically executed as part ofthe Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline at acceptance and deployment stages.
- You apply and continuously refine test strategies and test plans to ensure high-quality product delivery.
- You collaborate with Software Engineers, architects, development managers, and business analysts to achieve comprehensivetest coverage and quality.
- You communicate proactively with business analysts, development, and testing teams to resolve ambiguity and maintainalignment on test coverage and quality
Other Assignments
- You ensure follow-up with the Team Manager on a regular basis and as often as requested.
- You acquire working knowledge of Eurofins EurIS systems, starting with ADMS, its underlying concepts, models, and theprocesses and practices of the team.
- You continuously deepen knowledge of ADMS concepts, models, and team practices, guided by the priorities of assignedfunctions.
- You build effective working relationships with IT and non-IT stakeholders across Eurofins.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- You have more than three years of experience in software testing, with a focus on automation and proven manual testing skills.
- You demonstrate thorough understanding of various types of testing and their purposes, including acceptance, regression, sanity, and exploratory testing.
- You demonstrate thorough understanding of software applications at both functional and technical levels, with the ability to extend and refine acceptance criteria, including consideration of corner, edge, and boundary cases.
- You have knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and DevOps practices for effective integration of testing into the development process.
- You are proficient in automation using object-oriented languages (such as Java, C#).
- You understand web service patterns using Representational State Transfer (REST) and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) queuing patterns, and can test them with automation.
- You have experience with UI automation testing using tools like Selenium or JavaScript frameworks such as WebdriverIO.
- You are proficient in debugging code and troubleshooting issues across various layers of the application stack.
- You investigate root causes of defects and performance issues.
- You collaborate effectively with distributed teams across multiple countries.
- You understand manual testing practices and techniques to complement automated test coverage.
- You are fluent in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Skills and Experience
- You have initial experience with Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) tools such as SpecFlow/Reqnroll, JBehave, orCucumber.js for writing test cases in a given/when/then format.
- You have knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell, Shell, or Bash for automating tasks and writing test scripts.
- You have experience testing backend services developed with a Domain-Driven Design (DDD) approach.
- You are familiar with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps Pipelines, Jenkins.
- You have experience in automation with web frontend languages (JavaScript or TypeScript).
- You have experience with tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or Gatling for performance, load, and stress testing, and can review and interpret performance test results and identify bottlenecks.
- You have experience working with relational databases and working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
