About the Role
We are looking for a highly driven Operational Best Practice (OBP) Senior Project Manager to lead complex, high-impact initiatives across a European clinical laboratory network. This is a proactive, hands-on role for an experienced project manager who identifies issues, develops end-to-end solutions, and drives implementation without waiting for projects to be assigned. The role plays a key part in operational turnaround, cost improvement, and change management within a service-oriented, healthcare laboratory environment.
This position requires close collaboration with local laboratories as well as global and country-level purchasing teams, strong Lean process expertise, an independent working style, and a data-driven mindset. Regular travel across Europe (25% or more) is expected.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project management for operational, transformation, and cost-improvement initiatives across European clinical laboratories
- Proactively identify operational issues and improvement opportunities; analyse root causes and propose robust, data-backed solutions
- Design, develop, and implement Lean process improvements and standardised workflows within a service and laboratory environment
- Deliver change management and operational turnaround initiatives, ensuring sustainable adoption of new processes
- Manage projects with significant financial impact, including cost improvement initiatives of €100k+ value
- Collaborate closely with global and local purchasing teams to support sourcing, cost optimisation, and operational efficiency
- Define KPIs, track performance, and ensure data-driven decision-making throughout the project lifecycle
- Prepare succinct, high-quality written deliverables (memos, business cases, business plans, and recommendations) for senior leadership approval
- Leverage AI and digital tools to accelerate analysis, project execution, and decision-making
- Manage diverse stakeholders across countries, functions, and cultures, often without direct reporting authority
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with measurable business impact
Qualifications
Required Experience and Education
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience, ideally with PMP certification or equivalent
- Proven experience managing cost improvement projects with a minimum €100k financial impact
- Strong background in Lean process improvement within a service industry, with experience leading large-scale improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated experience leading projects from concept to implementation, considering the broader business context to deliver optimal company-wide solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, preferably biology, biochemistry, chemistry, medicine, or another healthcare-related field
- Previous experience in a service industry, ideally healthcare, diagnostics, or laboratory-related
Data & Digital Skills
- Strong focus on data-driven decision-making, KPI definition, and detailed data analysis
- Proven experience submitting written project proposals (≥ €100k value) to leadership and securing approval
- Advanced Excel skills
- Hands-on experience with commonly used project management software
- Practical use of AI tools to improve speed, quality, and efficiency of project delivery
Language Requirements
- Business-fluent English (oral and written)
- Fluent French or Spanish (oral and written)

Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel 25% or more within Europe
- Must live near a well-connected international airport (e.g., Madrid, Paris, Barcelona, Lyon, Dublin)
