Job Description
Position Summary:
Business Development position will have revenue responsibilities in the assigned territory. The Business Development Manager, Japan will be responsible for both strategic and tactical selling of the entire Eurofins Discovery service and product portfolio utilizing highly consultative and technical sales strategies. Customers include industrial and large academic institutions in the drug discovery industry and CRO’s.

Field Based, Tokyo or Osaka Preferred
Responsibilities:
- Identify and build business relationships with new prospects as well as with new groups within existing accounts (sales calls, lead follow up, on-site seminars, trade shows, and user meetings).
- Technically competent and knowledgeable on entire Eurofins Discovery service portfolio; ability to offer consultative solutions spanning multiple Eurofins Discovery platforms.
- Communicate with management-level decision makers to structure new deals and build upon existing business relationships.
- Coordinate customer visits with Eurofins Discovery scientists, and specialists.
- Effectively adapt business development plans based on Eurofins Discovery strengths and needs unique to the territory.
- Maintains accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities within the assigned territory, including the use of CRM Dynamics 365 to maintain accurate records to maximize territory potential.
- Ensure transactions and orders from customers to Client Services/Technical Scientific Support teams are accurate and complete.
- Attend and participate in training meetings at the company’s request.
- Maintain an accurate sales forecast which must be updated weekly.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability required.
- A minimum education of Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or above in applicable life science (Pharmacology, Cell Biology or Biochemistry is preferred.)
- Basic knowledge of the drug discovery and development process, especially in the territory.
- Five years of successful technical sales experience or equivalent.
- Good understanding and experience in the preclinical CRO market
- Fluency in discussing science in the local language (Japanese)
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Self-starter who is a result and success-oriented individual with the proven ability to develop and follow through on sales tasks and plans.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to scientific inquiries and quickly address the appropriate internal contacts.
- Trust, Integrity, Respect people, commitment to excellence, customer focus – listen to customers and timely/efficiently feedback, numerate with business acumen, teamwork, etc.
- Frequent travel in Japan to visit customers
- Occasionally travel to USA, EU or Asia for customer’s audit visits, team meeting or training
- No need for visa sponsorship
- Authorized to work in Japan
