Senior Data Science & BI Engineering Lead
- Full-time
Company Description
Eurofins Scientific is an international life sciences company, providing a unique range of analytical testing services to clients across multiple industries, to make life and our environment safer, healthier and more sustainable. From the food you eat, to the water you drink, to the medicines you rely on, Eurofins laboratories work with the biggest companies in the world to ensure the products they supply are safe, their ingredients are authentic, and labelling is accurate.
Eurofins is dedicated to delivering testing services that contribute to the health and safety of society and the planet, and to its corporate responsibility to protect the environment and ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion across the entire network of Eurofins companies.
Job Description
Step into a pivotal role where you lead Eurofins into a new era of data-driven decision-making by redefining the organization’s approach to Business Intelligence, advanced analytics, and AI. As the key architect of a modern, cloud-native data and AI ecosystem, you shape the long-term vision while guiding the transition from legacy systems to scalable, secure, and efficient platforms. Your leadership fosters a culture of innovation, curiosity, and continuous improvement, ensuring every solution aligns with the principles of the Well-Architected Framework across reliability, security, cost efficiency, operational excellence, and performance.
Mentoring and inspiring a cross-functional team of BI engineers, data scientists, and platform specialists becomes central to your work, encouraging the adoption of modern analytics practices, MLOps, and responsible AI. The role spans the entire data lifecycle: from designing and optimizing end-to-end pipelines to elevating structured data modeling and enterprise reporting into flexible, cloud-optimized solutions. AI and machine learning models come to life under your guidance, operationalized through Azure AI Foundry, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and similar platforms, then woven seamlessly into dashboards, decision workflows, and business services.
An Azure-first landscape becomes your canvas, leveraging services like Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Key Vault, Azure ML, and Azure Fabric, alongside Power BI, Grafana, Python, PySpark, and DevOps pipelines. Ensuring scalability, observability, and security across the entire data ecosystem remains at the heart of your mission. The role also includes defining the e-commerce EDI and transactional integration strategy for Eurofins IT applications. Within a performance-oriented organization that values structured objectives and regular feedback cycles, your impact will shape both technological progress and team culture.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, data science, engineering, or a related discipline forms the foundation of your expertise, supported by over five years of experience across BI, data engineering, or data science—along with proven leadership responsibilities. Deep knowledge of both legacy BI environments and modern AI/ML workflows is essential, as is strong experience with Azure-based data architectures. Comfort with semantic models, curated datasets, and high-performance dashboards goes hand in hand with mastery of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and governance.
Demonstrated success in guiding technical teams through transformation, championing engineering best practices, and embedding responsible AI principles sets you apart. Familiarity with MLOps, model lifecycle management, and reproducibility is expected, while experience in regulated industries such as pharma or healthcare adds valuable context. A solid understanding of data privacy, access control, and compliance is highly beneficial, and exposure to Microsoft Fabric, event-driven architectures, or Snowflake technologies enhances your profile.
Visionary thinking paired with hands-on pragmatism defines your leadership style. Clear communication, ease in navigating international collaboration, and a genuine passion for innovation equip you to thrive in a complex, fast-moving biotech environment—one where your contributions directly influence the strategic and scientific direction of a global organization.
