Job Description

esure has a fantastic opportunity for an Engineering Services Manager to join our Engineering Services department. This is a full-time permanent position and can be based from our Glasgow or Manchester office (hybrid working available).

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • To lead and oversee c. 52 FTE, role modelling a positive, collaborative, can do culture
  • Coach, mentor and develop future talent
  • Lead and drive improved performance, utilising root cause analysis of customer feedback, colleague feedback and supplier feedback
  • Build and develop influence in discussions / strategies for change in the external environment with external bodies e.g.Thatcham;
  • Set targets and objectives, which are relevant to esure’s strategic and operational goals

 Management

  • To manage the in-house engineering team in Manchester & Glasgow up to agreed headcount budgets
  • Responsible for the leadership and motivation of the ESD Team Leaders and operational teams
  • Be responsible for establishing and managing an in-house engineering function and departmental processes, ensuring that service levels are adhered to and costs are managed;
  • Identify training needs amongst the team, ensuring they have the resources to keep informed of all new repairing techniques and procedures
  • Coordinate regular audits of the team’s work, providing feedback to senior managers
  • Review internal processes to ensure the department is delivering best practice

COMMUNICATIONS AND REPORTING:

  • Liaise regularly with other claims department managers, to ensure you are always aware of activity within other teams and sharing ESD’s activities
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external) breaking down boundaries within the organisation, ensuring meaningful engagement and that the focus on the customer is consistent
  • Host regular department meetings, conveying department results, Peakon feedback and actions, business results, team successes and recognition

 OPERATIONS & CONTROLS:

  • Responsible for agreeing with Head of department, annual operational & indemnity target for Motor AD claims
  • Ensure the implementation of the operational expenses budget for ESD is not exceeded
  • Ensure effective training, controls and checks are in place to protect esure’s reputation and esure’s customers
  • Accountable for responding to the department’s audit and reviews, completing action planning and implementation of any new control measures

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of the motor vehicle repair industry and motor insurance sector
  • Essential to have knowledge and experience in a Motor Engineering leadership role
  • A strong understanding of collaborative, supplier relationship management with motor repair, motor salvage and motor engineering suppliers
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills;
  • Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and delegate to deliver esure’s business objectives;
  • Expert knowledge of the latest vehicle repair and estimating methods (Audatex, Thatcham)
  • Confident at negotiating and managing conflict at all levels, both internally and externally;
  • Champion of change, with the ability to bring people along with them on the change journey;
  • Strong experience of delivering excellent customer service through continuous improvement
