Job Description

The Day to Day:

  • You’ll manage data as a strategic asset and ensure its aligned with Data governance
  • Acting as the central point of contact within the business for Data governance
  • Promote Data democratization with alignment to Data governance
  • Co-ordinate activities for Data cataloguing, lineage, quality, retention and least privileged to protected data sets
  • Manage Data governance initiatives with reporting metrics
  • Collaborate with Data (engineers, scientists, stewards) and work closely with Privacy and Security practitioners.
  • Perform continuous risk assessments of Data stores, usage and where necessary develop risk mitigations
  • Participate and lead Data governance working group and advise of policy improvements and exceptions
  • Proactively promote and manage Data governance awareness campaigns throughout the business
  • Where appropriate support data breach processes and running playbook based Data breach drills

Qualifications

We'd Love You to Bring:

  • Significant Data management experience
  • Experience of working with a range of senior stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of Security and Privacy by design
  • Computer science degree or related experience
  • Experience of Data Quality strategies
  • Familiarity of working with Data Protection Officer

Essential

  • Experience of working closely with Data platform engineers, Data scientists, privacy practitioners and security architects​
  • Strong experience of SQL​
  • Recent hands-on technical experience​
  • Comprehensive data security protection knowledge

Soft skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to influence cross functional teams who are not within your reporting line
  • Ability and willingness to move with purpose and strong sense of urgency

Bonus points

  • Awareness of Data Leakage prevention strategies
  • A recognised data management or data quality certification
  • Familiarity with GDPR, Data Management Maturity models
  • Experience of supporting Digital and Marketing initiatives
  • Familiarity with Meta data tools e.g., DataHub, Amundsen or similar Professional growth

  • Data Management Professional (CDMP)
  • Privacy CIPP/E and CIPM
  • CompTIA Security+ or CISSP
