Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Retail Pricing and Analytics, the successful candidate will be responsible for significantly improving the profitability of the company through driving improvements to (Motor or Home) pricing, across all our brands and channels.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for driving improvements to the Motor/Home pricing algorithm, and the data used for pricing and underwriting decisions to improve the pricing of customers
  • Present and gain sign off for recommendations to the weekly PTM to improve total contribution for Motor / Home New Business
  • Business Lead for the Price Optimisation project, ensuring milestones and benefit targets are met
  • Ownership of the price optimisation framework for Motor/Home
  • Ownership of the conversion, retention, MTC and MTA models used in the Price Optimisation framework
  • Present output from the Motor/Home optimisation framework to help shape and guide strategic volume/premium/profit trade-off discussions at executive level
  • Ensure that all rate changes for Motor/Home are well controlled and that the rate change process is fit-for-purpose and followed at all times
  • Contribute to the business planning cycle, working closely with the Finance and Underwriting teams to help find the optimal point in the contribution/volume trade-off for Motor/Home
  • Liaise with teams from across esure to ensure that the impact of pricing decisions and changes are understood
  • Accountable for department compliance with statutory and regulatory bodies and requirements
  • Responsible for the development programme for all members of the team
  • Develop the skills and knowledge of the Retail Pricing team to ensure that future business requirements are met

Skills/Experience

  • General insurance pricing experience, dealing with insurance pricing in a management level capacity.
  • Demonstrable experience in, and substantial understanding of, using multivariate statistical and analytical techniques to solve business problems.
  • Evidence of delivering and supporting real business change with quantifiable benefits.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Demonstrable and proven track record in an analysis role, with significant line/people management experience.
  • Strong communications skills, and able to explain complex analysis to all levels of the business and differing levels of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to identify and anticipate potential business opportunities/threats using strong market awareness and internal information.
  • Excellent working knowledge of actuarial methods and principles.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory and legal framework within which the personal lines market operates.
  • Self-motivation and organisational skills, with proven leadership ability.
