Job Description

Role Overview

We are looking for a Machine Operator to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production at our facility in Agbor, Delta. This role is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining production machinery to ensure output targets are met and quality standards are consistently achieved.

The ideal candidate is technically sound, attentive to detail, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role for someone who can follow process, respond quickly to issues, and help keep production running smoothly.

What You Will Own

  • Operate assigned production machinery in line with approved standard operating procedures.
  • Set up machines before production runs, including calibration, cleaning, and basic adjustments.
  • Monitor machine performance to ensure efficiency, consistency, and output quality.
  • Meet daily production targets without compromising safety or product standards.
  • Inspect finished products and identify defects, variances, or quality issues.
  • Take corrective action on minor issues and escalate more serious concerns promptly.
  • Carry out routine machine checks, basic maintenance, and first-level troubleshooting.
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and properly functioning equipment after use.
  • Record machine activity, downtime, material usage, output levels, and production issues accurately.
  • Report progress, faults, and operational concerns to the Production Supervisor or Plant Manager.
  • Work closely with quality, maintenance, and production teams to support smooth operations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and assist with onboarding or training of new operators where required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of OND or Technical Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years’ experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience operating automated or semi-automated machinery is an advantage.
  • Basic mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, operating instructions, and SOPs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work to production deadlines.
  • Certification in machine operation or safety is an added advantage.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Factory or plant-based work environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and heat.
  • Shift work may be required, including nights, weekends, and extended production hours where necessary.
  • The role requires prolonged standing, routine movement across the production floor, and physical activity consistent with plant operations.
