Job Description

This position will require travel.

The Channel Intelligence Director is responsible for leading the on-premise channel intelligence function for a premium spirits portfolio client. This role oversees the development of market intelligence capabilities, competitive analysis, trade insights, and programming evaluation designed to shape commercial strategy, strengthen competitive positioning, and optimize marketing decisions.

Reporting to agency leadership, the Channel Intelligence Director will work with the client’s channel marketing team to ensure the organization maintains a best-in-class understanding of the evolving on-premise landscape. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision, strong leadership capabilities, deep on-premise expertise, and exceptional commercial acumen within the beverage alcohol industry.

Core Responsibilities/Activities:

Legal and Compliance Accountability. Maintain all legal and marketing code guidelines 

Channel Intelligence & Insight Leadership

  • Lead the delivery of a comprehensive on-premise intelligence strategy focused on informing channel and advocacy approach
  • Establish intelligence frameworks, reporting standards, and insight-generation processes that support enterprise-wide commercial decision-making.

  • Ensure the client’s org maintains a comprehensive understanding of competitor activity, customer programming, hospitality trends, and evolving consumer behaviors
  • Serve as the client’s subject matter expert on on-premise market dynamics and supplier competitive activity. Create framework to educate the client on this information.

Commercial Strategy Support

  • Translate market intelligence into strategic recommendations that influence sales execution, advocacy investment, customer prioritization, and brand growth strategies.
  • Support annual business planning, market prioritization, and resource allocation through insight-driven recommendations.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and return on investment of on-premise programming, activations, and trade engagement initiatives.

Team Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Lead and develop the Channel Intelligence team, including Channel Intelligence Managers and Advocacy Leads.
  • Build a high-performance culture centered around curiosity, analytical thinking, market engagement, and commercial impact.
  • Ensure strong alignment and collaboration between intelligence, advocacy, sales, and marketing functions.
  • Agency Accountabilities. Complete accurate and timely management of agency initiatives including:
    • Budget and expense management
    • All reporting responsibilities
    • Tracking and management of performance data using agency-appointed platforms

  • Share of success stories through strategic communications such that progress is clearly communicated to and understood by both agency and client 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in beverage alcohol, commercial strategy, on-premise marketing, trade advocacy, insights, or hospitality leadership.
  • Deep expertise in the on-premise channel and beverage alcohol industry dynamics.
  • Proven experience leading intelligence, strategy, advocacy, or commercial functions.
  • Strong understanding of supplier programming, customer engagement models, and competitive trade activity.
  • Demonstrated success influencing senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and people development experience managing high-performing teams.
  • Experience working with distributors, customers, and field commercial organizations.
  • Ability to tailor communications for a variety of on-premise environments
  • Strong budget management skills
  • Willingness to travel regularly, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Desire for mentorship and willingness to contribute to team culture
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish-speaking) a plus
  • Manage administrative tasks with attention to meeting agency compliance guidelines and standards

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this job classification is between $145,000.00-$165,000.00 annually. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related skills and qualifications, length of service, brand program, and geographic location. This job classification is bonus-eligible, with bonus potential subject to applicable bonus plan terms and conditions.
