Job Description
Title: Officer, Communications
Location: Washington, DC or Remote
Reports To: Associate Director, Communications & Digital Strategy
Classification: Full-time, exempt
The Officer, Communications is a member of the Strategic Engagement team, reporting to the Associate Director, Communications & Digital Strategy and working closely with the Public Policy and Advocacy Director. In this role, the Officer will develop and implement a comprehensive digital communications strategy that increases visibility of EGPAF's efforts to eliminate pediatric AIDS through a variety of digital channels.
The Officer will be responsible for leading EGPAF’s social media content strategy and digital marketing efforts, with a focus on creating compelling, audience-friendly content that drives engagement and influence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads EGPAF’s social media strategy and manages day-to-day execution across platforms, including copywriting, graphic design, short-form video production, and campaign management.
- Translates complex, technical, and policy-heavy topics into clear, engaging, and creative content for lay audiences — ensuring accuracy while avoiding jargon.
- Dedicates approximately 50% of social media work to a project aimed at increasing prioritization of and political support for global health and development among key U.S. decision makers.
- Develops creative social-first campaigns that highlight EGPAF’s impact, humanize data, and spark engagement from diverse audiences.
- Creates and executes paid social media advertising campaigns on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms.
- Monitors social media trends and best practices, recommending innovative content approaches that keep EGPAF’s channels fresh, timely, and impactful.
- Develops monthly analytics reports, extracting insights to refine strategies and improve performance across channels.
- Ensures consistency of EGPAF’s brand voice, tone, and messaging across all social media platforms.
- Provides project support to Associate Director, Communications & Digital Strategy, and Vice President of Strategic Engagement.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 4–6 years of professional experience in digital communications, social media management, or content creation (nonprofit or global health experience preferred).
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with proven ability to translate technical and policy-heavy topics into creative, accessible, and engaging content.
- Deep content creation experience across formats — written, visual, and video — with a strong creative portfolio.
- Proficiency in social media scheduling tools, graphic design, and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Premiere Pro, or similar).
- Experience with paid social advertising and digital analytics (Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Google Analytics, etc.).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong cross-cultural communication skills and ability to adapt messaging for diverse audiences.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

Additional Information
Salary Range
The expected salary range for this position is $53,733 (minimum) to $67,166 (midpoint) annually in the Washington, DC Metro area. For US-based remote staff, EGPAF uses geographical ranges that are based on the candidate’s location and the associated cost of labor. Actual base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as qualifications, experience and training, education and certifications, internal equity, external market data, and budget.
