Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Resident Engineer to join our team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this role, you will work alongside the Resident Engineer to oversee construction activities, ensure compliance with project specifications, and maintain the highest standards of quality, safety, and technical excellence on site. The successful candidate will have proven experience in mid-rise to high-rise building projects, strong technical and documentation skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple activities and multidisciplinary teams concurrently.
- Supervise and monitor daily construction activities, including enabling works and structural works, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor quality, progress, safety, and compliance.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, shop drawings, method statements, and construction methodologies.
- Monitor key construction activities including shoring, dewatering, waterproofing, PT slabs, façade works, and structural works.
- Coordinate site activities between contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Manage and maintain site documentation, including inspection records, progress reports, photographic records, and handover documentation.
- Coordinate documentation and the handover process between Enabling Works and Main Works contractors, including relevant authority and slab casting documentation.
- Assist with project scheduling, progress monitoring, risk identification, and resolution of technical and site issues.
- Support quality assurance and control processes and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Demonstrate effective leadership and coordination skills while managing multiple site activities and, where required, concurrent projects.
- Maintain familiarity with BIM processes and support BIM-based coordination and technical reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Substantial experience in mid-rise to high-rise building projects with a proven track record in site supervision and construction management.
- Strong technical knowledge of structural and enabling works, including shoring, dewatering, waterproofing, PT slabs, and façade works.
- Good understanding of ARE roles and responsibilities, construction documentation, inspections, authority requirements, and handover procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to review, assess, and monitor works across multiple technical disciplines.
- Strong managerial, leadership, communication, and coordination skills, with experience managing multidisciplinary teams and multiple activities concurrently.
- Familiarity with BIM processes and construction coordination.
- UAE/GCC project experience and relevant professional certifications will be an advantage.
