We are seeking an experienced Head of Health and Safety to strengthen Egis Group’s health and safety policy and strategy, and to lead all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance across our UK organisation. Egis in the UK includes multiple entities across three business lines, and this role reports to the Operations Director.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in animating a community of H&S professionals across several domains and entities - ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, visitors, and contractors while adhering to all relevant regulations and industry standards

Job Description
- Ensure the implementation of health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and programs across all entities within the organisation
- Provide professional advice on health and safety legislation and good practices to the organisation
- Implement the Egis group Health, Safety and Security global policy and strategy and coordinate monthly reporting mechanisms for the group
- Collaborate closely with entity-specific leadership teams to align health and safety goals, strategies, and initiatives with overall business objectives.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards, assess their impact, and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and standards, providing expert advice and guidance to ensure adherence.
- Coordinate thorough training programs to educate employees and contractors on safe working practices, emergency procedures, and hazard identification.
- Lead incident investigations, analyse root causes, and develop corrective and preventive action plans to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain a robust reporting system to track health and safety performance metrics, providing regular reports and insights to management.
- Foster a culture of safety consciousness by promoting engagement, participation, and accountability across all levels of the organisation.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and relevant stakeholders to stay informed about evolving health and safety trends and best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement through the identification of emerging risks and the implementation of innovative solutions to enhance overall safety performance.
- Co-ordinate, manage and mentor a team of health and safety professionals, ensuring their ongoing development and effectiveness in supporting the organisation’s safety objectives.
- Support Sentinel co-ordination and management for our rail business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH Diploma, are required.
- Extensive experience (at least 7-10 years) in health and safety management, preferably within large matrix organisations with multiple entities.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing health and safety programs that align with complex business structures.
- In-depth knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong analytical skills to assess risks, incidents, and trends, and derive actionable insights for improvement.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and influence positive change.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using health and safety management software and tools.
- Prior experience in managing and leading a team of health and safety professionals is a plus.
