As a huge part of a small team, you will get your hands dirty on a number of gameplay and online systems. We’re building a PvP first person shooter so interest in gameplay fundamentals and networking concepts would be well suited! We have a very flat hierarchy where everyone contributes to creativity and game design. We are all very autonomous, hard working and responsible for owning large areas of the game.

Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Ratloop Canada is currently seeking a talented programmer who will work onsite with the Production Team. This individual will help to design and develop core game features and help us improve the user experience within our new multiplayer game. The ideal candidate needs to be open to work with various systems, be proactive and propose and develop solutions as required. As a core programmer in a small team you will be touching a wide variety of areas of the game and have a huge role in the success of the project!

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and debug gameplay and online systems;
  • Profiling and Performance optimisation of game systems.
  • Implement game functionality across multiple platforms (PC and console).
  • Integration of 3rd party modules (e.g. Anti-cheat solutions, voice chat).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent training or experience;
  • Fluent in C++;
  • 5+ years of experience in video game development;
  • Knowledge of the technical Pipelines and all the processes required to make a game.

ASSETS

  • Experience with multiplayer games;
  • Experience working with console (Sony/Microsoft);
  • Proficient technical skills in Unreal Engine 4;
  • Strong interest in gaming (including FPS);
  • Knowledge of game systems and 3C’s (camera, character, control)

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • Strong Affinity with game design;
  • Autonomous and resourceful, ability to take initiative;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
