The goal of the five-year, USAID-funded Integrated Child and Youth Development (ICYD) Activity is for Ugandan children and youth, especially the most vulnerable, to receive the support and services necessary to lead resilient, healthy, and productive lives. The ICYD Activity is expected to achieve the following:
- Children and youth have improved learning outcomes;
- Children and youth are safe and healthy in their community and learning environments; and
- Youth practice positive behaviors and are able to make informed decisions about their lives and relationships.
Working in partnership with Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) and Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development (MGLSD), district and zonal officials, and other Ugandan government and civil society partners, ICYD will comprise a series of activities to: support improved basic education for Ugandan children; address school-related and gender-based violence; facilitate enhanced child protection and support for vulnerable youth; provide support to HIV-affected orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and their caregivers/families; and support HIV care and treatment outcomes in close collaboration with clinical and community structures. ICYD will also contribute to improved systems within the MoES and MGLSD to promote Early Grade Reading (EGR) and child protection.

Position Description
The Temporary Data Clerk will work under the direction and guidance of the Zonal M&E officer, and with Senior Zonal Manager, under the general management of the Chief of Party. The Temporary Data Clerk will enter data for the In-School prevention activities using the Group Activity tools developed for the Journeys plus sessions into ICYD’s database via Kobo Toolbox. The Data Entry Clerk will sort, verify, and enter data, and ensure accuracy of data into the database so that it is readily available for FY23 reporting. This is a temporary position based in Kampala, Mbarara and Jinja, Uganda.
The Temporary Data Clerk will undertake, but not be limited to, the following essential functions:
- Prepare, compile and sort documents (completed Group sessions data) for entry
- Enter data from source documents into KoBo Toolbox
- Check source documents for accuracy before entry into KoBo Toolbox
- Verify data and correct data where necessary following recommended data correction guidelines
- Obtain further information for incomplete documents and engage relevant officers at Zonal level
- Comply with data integrity and security policies
- Perform any other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
The candidate for the position of Temporary Data Clerk shall have at a minimum the following qualifications:
Education:
- A diploma in relevant field such as data management, Computing, Statistics, Information Technology, Development Studies, or any similar fields.
Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in the use of computer especially the MS Office Suite applications, especially Excel and Word
- Proficiency in data entry software such as Kobo Toolbox
- Relevant experience in data entries on projects-based reporting
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with USAID quality standards
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals
- Must be able to work within a cross cultural setting, negotiate diplomatically, and function well under pressure
- Ability to work hands-on and independently in a difficult work environment
- Ability to plan and organize work tasks in order to accomplish in a timely manner
Language:
Fluency in written and oral English is required.
