Job Description
In a context of social and environmental emergency, one of the greatest challenges of the company today is to provide its ratings allowing companies to reduce their risks, drive improvement and accelerate their positive impact on our planet and society, on a large scale.
We must constantly review and improve our rating methodology to remain aligned with sustainability regulations, market best practices and emerging sustainability topics, and to be able to effectively support rated companies on their journey to improve their sustainability practices.
Mission
Manage the strategic development of the Environment methodology across EcoVadis Solutions (except Carbon), develop our expertise on environmental topics and oversee the delivery of related methodology projects.
The Evaluation Services (EVS) Methodology department is in charge of defining the methodology behind our solutions, in particular our Sustainability Ratings. Our ratings cover four overarching sustainability themes (Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, Sustainable Procurement), covering a total of twenty-one sustainability criteria.
The Environment Methodology Expert will be responsible for supervising the research, content development, and delivery of all environment-related methodology projects (except carbon-related projects), which includes continuous enhancements to the methodology and strategic reviews., As such, they will be responsible for developing the department’s expertise on environmental topics and ensuring that our solutions and ratings are aligned with the most recent market developments, concepts and standards in the environmental field.
Responsibilities:
- Manage 1 direct report (Environment Senior Analyst)
- Define the methodology strategy for the Environment theme and oversee the development of relevant methodology initiatives by the Environment team
- Monitor the latest changes in the global landscape through continuous research and market scan on emerging best practices and regulatory changes, including in areas previously unexplored by the EcoVadis methodology, share methodology knowledge and expertise with the rest of the team, and provide recommendations for future direction
- Engage into building strong external relationships, including with our most advanced customers and external experts & thought leaders, to collect feedback on and enrich our methodology on environmental topics
- Represent EcoVadis as the in-house expert on environmental issues (e.g. participation in conferences, creation of specialized articles and various content, building partnerships, networking, …) to present our methodology approach and share findings from our database
- Organize and document the knowledge on the Environmental theme
- Clarify the type of information and documents we expect from rated companies for questionnaire options of the Environment theme
- Lead methodology projects related to the Environment theme, and ensure alignment with business objectives, strategic priorities and change processes, including by sponsoring projects and providing project management support
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in corporate sustainability with advanced understanding of the main environmental trends (energy, water, biodiversity, waste, circular economy, LCAs etc.) and the evolving landscape.
- Strategic-thinker with an understanding of how emerging trends are shaping the market and how this should be translated in the EcoVadis rating methodology.
- Experienced project manager with the ability to keep multiple and complex projects moving forward concurrently, and to manage project teams to ensure high quality outputs and timely delivery.
- Demonstrated excellent communication, presentation and public speaking skills, and ability to explain complex concepts in a synthetic way.
- Proactive and self-motivated team player, with the capacity to motivate own team, as well as to engage other teams within the Methodology sub-department as well as in the wider organization (Product Management, Business Technology Support, Solutions Consulting, Marketing departments etc.), and to mediate discussions between impacted stakeholders.
