Job Description

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing all human resources operations in Mauritius, developing the HR agenda and providing premium support to both leadership and staff members in order to offer the best employee experience in a diverse and inclusive workplace. 

As the local people expert, he/she will be in charge of implementing a specific people approach in line with the company vision and values; and the global HR strategy.

Main duties & responsibilities:

Managerial responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hire and trains new staff in the Human Resources Department

  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Local Human Resources Director to develop and implement HR strategies; and initiatives aligned with the company strategy and goals in order to attract and retain employees

Administration and fiscal law / social dialogue:

  • Manage all HR administrative documents

  • Oversees employees disciplinary procedures

  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resources management

  • Manage payroll process and maintain pay plan and benefits program

Management & HR development

  • Anticipate and manage the recruitment and selection process, making sure that the resources meet the needs and are properly onboarded 

  • Listen to employees & managers to provide guidance and support

  • Analyse trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies

  • Establish and maintain local reports

  • Performance/ Appraisal: collaborate with the managers to create a high culture of performance 

  • Assist in the conduct of training needs analysis and implement training plan

  • Nurture a positive working environment for improving overall employee satisfaction

  • Conduct new employee orientations and employee relation counseling

  • Counsel and assist managers in their roles, team leaders and employees in work related matters / Educate team members on best HR practices and procedures 

  • Participate in specific HR projects

Qualifications

  • Degree in Human Resources field or related field with at least 5 years of experience as an HR

  • At least 2 years experience of leading a team

  • Fluent in French and English

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Mastery of the Workers’ right act, HRDC process and any other local regulations  

  • Skilled in employee compensation and benefits administration

  • Ability to understand how to build organisational capability through effective talent management, succession planning and learning and development

  • Proficient with Ms office and digital HR tools

  • Self-driven and autonomous (capacity to challenge client and internal teams)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Team Player / ability to collaborate with others & work in a team-oriented environment

  • Ability to work well in an international and multicultural environment - to create a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration and teamwork
