Job Description
- Part time (0.4 FTE), 12 month fixed term with potential to extend
- Thursday onsite and one work from home day (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday)
- Based in Ringwood, on the lands of the Wurundjeri People
- $53.43 - $54.58 per hour + 12% Super + generous salary packaging benefits of up to $18,550

An exciting opportunity exists for a Research & Practice Development Officer to support research, evaluation, quality improvement and service development initiatives within Reconnexion, a specialist service supporting individuals experiencing benzodiazepine dependency and the professionals who work with them.
Reconnexion is a government-funded service that for 40 years has provided support to individuals with benzodiazepine dependency as well as their treating professionals. The Research & Practice Development Officer supports Reconnexion's commitment to evidence-informed practice by monitoring emerging research and translating knowledge into practical resources, recommendations and service improvements. The role helps ensure programs, resources and service delivery reflect contemporary evidence and sector developments, while supporting research, partnership and innovation opportunities that strengthen service quality and community outcomes.
In this varied role, you will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to translate evidence into practice, contribute to innovative projects, support continuous improvement activities, and help strengthen service quality through research and evaluation.
About the Role
The Research & Practice Development Officer plays a key role in supporting evidence-informed practice across our service. You will contribute to research activities, program evaluation, data analysis, resource development and reporting, ensuring emerging evidence and best practice principles are embedded into Reconnexion's service delivery.
This position is suited to someone who enjoys working collaboratively, has strong analytical and communication skills, and is passionate about using research to inform meaningful improvements in practice and client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and review relevant research, evidence and sector developments.
- Translate research findings into practical resources, recommendations and tools.
- Support program evaluation, quality improvement and service development initiatives.
- Collect, analyse and interpret data to inform decision-making and reporting.
- Prepare reports, presentations and other documentation for a range of audiences.
- Build effective relationships with stakeholders, sector partners and professional networks.
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing activities and the promotion of evidence-informed practice.
- Support projects that enhance service quality, innovation and client outcomes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Experience in research, evaluation, quality improvement, project work or practice development.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Experience developing reports, presentations, resources or educational materials.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis or reporting systems.
What will make you stand out
- Knowledge of the health, alcohol and other drugs (AOD) and/or mental health sectors.
- Health related research experience
- Understanding of Benzodiazepine dependence
