Location: Lackland Air Force Base located at/near San Antonio, TX


Hours/Shifts: 7:30-4:30, Monday – Friday


Resume – proving at least 2 years (within the last 3 years)

Master’s Degree in Audiology

License

Certification of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A)

Qualifications:


Possess a master’s degree from a program in Audiology accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA).

Either possess a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) or certification through the American Board of Audiology.

Licensed in one of the fifty States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the US Virgin Islands.

A minimum of 24 months of experience within the last 36 months.

Scope of Work:


Identify, assess, and manage auditory, balance, and other neural systems.

Use audiometers, computers, and other testing devices to measure the loudness at which a person begins to hear sounds, the ability to distinguish between sounds, and the nature and extent of hearing loss.

Provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures of the hearing and balance mechanisms including intraoperative monitoring of the cranial nerves, cerumen removal, cochlear implant assessment and management, posturography, and other advanced balance mechanism evaluations.

Interview patient and records patient’s case history to determine previous ailments and complaints.

Perform examinations to determine evidences of physiological or anatomical abnormality. Supplement examination by arranging laboratory test analyses and diagnostic xrays. Interpret laboratory results in evaluating examination findings.

May recommend, fit, and dispense personal or large area amplification systems, such as hearing aids and alerting devices.

Plan, administer, and record progress of prescribed courses of treatment with limits of area of practice. Accomplish therapeutic procedures after consulting medical officers.

Refer patient to and consults with physician for further case diagnosis and treatment planning.

Provide instructions to patients regarding prescribed therapeutic exercises.

Administer medication upon prescription by physician, with limitations established by the Director of Medical Services.

Instruct and provide clinical supervision of assistants. Prescribe and supervise instruction in use and maintenance of therapeutic devices, exercises, or procedures. Fit and adjust appliances, and advise patients on care of therapeutic or corrective equipment.

Participates in special programs. Participates in specialized Air Force health programs such as hearing conservation program, exceptional family members program, aerospace medical program, and occupational health program.

Measures noise levels in workplaces and conducts hearing protection programs.
