RT protocol s house wide for any patient older than 13 years old that is receiving respiratory treatments. 

Opportunity to cross-train to PFT/diagnostic.

Opportunity to insert radial arterial lines after completing required competencies.

Opportunity to apply for the flight team in RT capacity when openings are available.

Level 3 B NICU.

MT pediatric project with 24/7 PICU intensivist coverage.

Hospital paid time to maintain required certifications, ie: ACLS, NRP, PALS, BLS.

Puritan Bennet 840 ventilators.

Siemens servo-I vents in PICU.

Drager Baby log vents in NICU.

Ikaria INO vents.

3100 A & B oscillator vents.

I-STAT for POC ABG testing.

 

Description

 

 

In this position, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides a full range of Respiratory Care to the patient from routine therapy, diagnostics, and assessment to mechanical ventilation in order to assist with treatments.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical and Diagnostic Responsibilities

Operates, maintains, and monitors a wide variety of equipment including ventilators and those that are involved in the administration of prescribed gases and inhaled medications.  

Performs arterial punctures, arterial line sampling and operates POC ABG instrument as well as maintaining & cleaning artificial airways as directed. 

Schedules diagnostic procedures and adjusts or revises procedure schedule as necessary in view of stat orders, admissions, outpatient walk-ins and fluctuations in workload.

Patient Care and Assessment

Obtains and reviews patient’s chart and obtains history for pertinent information before each therapy or procedure. Explains to the patient the therapy or diagnostic test they will be undergoing

Notes any changes in therapy or testing due to patient condition or proper testing equipment for age specific needs and collaborates with physician and nursing staff to make adjustments

Documentation and Correspondence

Documents therapies, procedures, assessment, medications, equipment charges and setups and reviews outstanding orders during the shift and communicates changes to Lead Therapist


Qualifications

 

Registration by National Board of Respiratory Care Program or ability to successfully pass within six months of hire date

Current licensure by Montana Board of Respiratory Care

Current BLS certification

Ability to obtain PALS, ACLS & NRP certifications within 12 months of hire date

Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment

Experience in understanding and usage of computers as well as the ability to learn applications relevant to the position


SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Registration by National Board of Respiratory Care Program or ability to successfully pass within six months.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Prefer RRT with experience

Prefer candidate very interested in living and working in rural community Billings, MT.

IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE WORKED FOR THE FOLLOWING COMPANY(IES): Any acute, high trauma hospital with high level technology.
