Job Description

 The Clinical Nurse Educator reports to the Assistant Director and Director of Surgical Services. (S) He is responsible for Inservice and clinical education of the department staff as well as understanding the delivery of direct nursing care to all patient populations on this unit. The Clinical Nurse Educator possesses skills and knowledge to competently provide the appropriate services to staff and patients.

Requirements:

The Clinical Nurse Educator must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or equivalent and currently licensed to practice in the State of California. BSN degree required; Masters Degree of Nursing or Masters of Education preferred. Minimum of 5-7 years of recent acute care hospital Operating Room experience is required. CNOR certification is required. Must have the ability to assess, plan, organize, teach and evaluate student performance. American Heart Association Provider BLS certification required. Within 24 months of hire date the following certifications: AORN Clinical Educator Certification Course

Does candidate have a minimum of 5-7 years recent acute care hospital operating room experience? / y 

Does candidate have CNOR certification? / yes 

Does candidate have exp teaching adult learners? / yes 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Ideal candidate will have at least 5-7 years of nursing experience working in an acute care hospital, in the main OR, with scrubbing and circulating experience in a variety of cases, including general, ortho, spine, neuro, gyn, ENT, and Ophthalmology. Candidate will have experience as a nurse educator, planning curriculum, teaching adult learners, and evaluating student/staff performance. Ideal candidate will have Masters in Nursing, but not required, Must have BSN degree and CNOR certification.
