Job Description

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Circulates cases as it relates to unit scope of care. 

2. Understands principles of aseptic technique and requirements for scrubbing cases as it relates to unit scope of care.

3. Exercises sound judgement and decision-making skills on behalf of patient, self, and peers.

4. Pursues own professional growth through continuing education and in-services.

5. Communicates effectively with staff, peers, director, external and internal customers.

6. Organizes work to complete duties effective and efficiently.

7. Serves as a professional member of the OR team.

8. Demonstrates competency in providing patient/family education.

9. Adheres to hospital policies and procedures; supports the mission of the hospital.

EXPERIENCE 

Required - Current Virginia RN License; completion of Peri-Operative Course or at least 2 years of previous experience as a Peri-Operative OR Nurse

Preferred - Current Virginia License, minimum of one year Med/Surg experience; Previous CORT prior to licensed as RN

EDUCATION 

Required - Graduate of accredited school of nursing with current license in the State of Virginia
