Job Description


The Manager of Financial Accounting provides leadership for financial accounting department and manages the financial statements of the Enterprise. The main focus of the Manager will be to provide quality and timely accounting and support services to all the family of companies within the Enterprise. Close interface and effective communication with Enterprise management is essential. Strong accounting skills with a solid knowledge of US GAAP, management, communication, and problem solving skills are critical to the financial accounting process. In addition, the manager of Financial Accounting is responsible for overseeing budgets and working with department heads around the budgeting process. The Manager of Financial Accounting will be responsible for leading meetings and also contribute to them. The Manager will also be responsible for training, and skills development within the department. The Manager of Financial Accounting reports to the Director of Financial Accounting.    


Job functions are as follows: 


•Manage corporate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes and requirements; internal and external

•Manage the annual external audit process

•Manage financial accounting processes: draft and record journal entries, trial balance management, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation and related protocols, subsidiary ledger maintenance, fixed assets, accruals and prepaid balances, bank reconciliations, financial report analysis

•Work with operations department heads to ensure that all operational activity has appropriately been identified and reflected in financial statements.  

•Manage the preparation of federal and state tax return support schedules: M 1’s; apportionment factors

•Oversight of the Enterprise Overhead budgeting process, including, but not limited to: •Working with department heads to ensure budgets are appropriately recorded

•Working with department heads to ensure expenses are appropriately recorded and variances from the budget have been identified and explained

•Working with management to ensure any budget change has been communicated to respective departments.  

•Train and develop staff. Identify training needs and curriculum deficiencies

•Assist in completing required information for annual state license renewals and government surveys

•On occasion, assist with Enterprise special projects in coordinating with management, performing accounting research, meeting with department heads, and creating/providing the required deliverables. 


Required Qualifications:

   

•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

•3 year to 5 years related experience 


Preferred Qualifications:   


•CPA license, including 5th year college or university

•Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent

•5+ years experience 


SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Does the candidate have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related discipline? 

Does the candidate have a minimum of three years' experience in an accounting/finance role? 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Ideal candidates will have worked in an EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) company, or a large industrial concern.

IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE WORKED FOR THE FOLLOWING COMPANY(IES): 

Fluor, CB&I, Bechtel, KBR, CH2M Hill, WorleyParsons, and similar EPC companies in the industry.
