Job Description.
Bilingual in Mandarin or Cantonese and English STRONGLY preferred. Responsible for contributing to unit’s growth and profitability. Develops and retains business relationships by meeting the financial needs of commercial banking market businesses and professionals with over ten million in annual sales. Develops loans, depository accounts, other fee generating services and extends credit. May be responsible for new business development and/or portfolio management. The regulations implementing the Secure and Fair Enforcement (S.A.F.E.) Act statute require that individual mortgage loan originators be registered with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry.
This description applies to three levels (Job Codes: 2455, 2456, 2457 ). Level assignment is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to: scope and complexity of responsibility, market area, size of office, experience and expertise of lender.
Position Accountabilities
1. Supports unit’s growth and profitability through effective calling on existing and potential customers. Identifies business needs and corresponding sales opportunities bankwide.
2. Works closely with Wealth Management, Treasury, Cash Management, International Trade and other major areas of the Bank to promote the sales and implementation of complex financial products and services. Provides assistance to customers with Foreign Exchange transactions by contacting the Treasury Department. Acts as liaison between customers and Treasury Department for the purchase of other investment products.
3. Interviews loan applicants to develop information regarding their business needs, abilities and earnings to determine if a loan is an acceptable risk.
4. Obtains and analyzes all necessary financial data.
5. Reviews credit checks and understands the Business Link Unit scoring system.
6. Prepares formal presentations for existing and prospective customers.
7. Prepares credit proposals including developing pro-forma analyses and narrative portion of CRRs.
8. Documents all loans to ensure perfection of the Bank’s security interest in compliance with regulatory, legal and bank requirements.
9. Makes approval decisions on loans and terms within own lending limits. Makes recommendations to appropriate lending authority.
10. Negotiates terms and conditions of loan with applicants.
11. Identifies, classifies and monitors problems or potential problem loans in compliance with the internal credit review policy.
12. Attempts to collect accounts that are delinquent. Negotiates payment schedules and obtains proper pre-approval if required.
13. Interacts with Quality Management, commercial loan servicing/operations, REO, appraisal, legal and other related Bank personnel working with assets regarding issues of quality, pricing new business and related trends.
14. Issues status reports on assigned projects
15. Provides industry analysis as needed.
16. May oversee activities of other officers to ensure that current and potential customers receive the best sales and service available.
17. Sells to and maintains contact with major accounts within jurisdiction.
18. Keeps informed of changes in assigned territory that might affect product sales.
19. Promotes satisfactory relations both internally and externally as required.
20. Keeps abreast of economic and political factors within that might impact the development of business relationships.
21. Performs other duties as assigned.

Field of Experience
• Complete knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, practices and documentation (including accounting, financial statements and cash flow analysis). Complete knowledge of bank products and services used by commercial customers. Demonstrated sales and/or portfolio management ability. Complete knowledge of asset based and trade finance lending.
