Job Description


Responsible for performing basic mechanical and electrical trouble-shooting, maintenance, repair, installation, and preventive maintenance activities related to facility equipment. Essential responsibilities for the position are the following:

Repairs and maintains CNC machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines and equipment in accordance with diagrams, specifications and operator’s manuals.

Troubleshoots malfunctions of electrical systems, fuses, resistors, capacitors, spindle drives, servo drives, transistor modules, and diodes.

Replaces boards, pumps, motors, switches, coils, pulsecodiners, ball screws, cables, gibs, mount guards and servo drives as needed or directed.

Installs and maintains electrical wiring and equipment such as motors, drives, integrated circuits,and PLC’s according to NEC codes.

Dismantles devices and machines to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, hand tools, power tools, and cranes.

Maintains personal safety equipment and promotes Alcoa Barberton Safety Regulations

Completes required paperwork

Performs other related duties as required.

Wheels Plant Educational and / or Experience Preferred:


Trade school training.


Experience working with robots


Knowledge of welding or welding experience


Experience trouble-shooting and repairing CNC machinery to the board level (no board repairs).


Familiarity with Fanuc, hydraulicandpneumatic systems as well as ball screw and bearings
