Job Description: This position provides leadership and overall responsibility for the management of the Emergency and Trauma Department on a 24-hour basis. Provides guidance and direction to subordinate staff and for organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling activities for the care of patients, the development of personnel, and compliance with regulatory and professional standards, strategic planning and the fostering of interdisciplinary collaborative relationships. Oversees formation and usage of the budget, implementation of standards of care and standards of practice. Establishes and implements policies and procedures for department functioning.

Some of the duties include:

1. Provides regular feedback and coaching to employees, demonstrates knowledge of good interpersonal relationships.

2. Reviews quality improvement monitoring, analyzes and evaluates ER Services Department to improve nursing care. Develops, revises and implements ER Services policies and procedures 3. Identify and remove obstacles to departmental productivity.

4. Monitors and give input on budget issues and budget performance 5. Assess current technologies and existing programs and revise or develop new programs as necessary to enhance efficiency, profitability or service level.

6. Ensures compliance with standards established by outside regulatory agencies.

Minimum Requirements This position requires BS degree, GA RN license and 2-5 years ER Director level management experience. MSN is preferred. The successful candidate will have:

Extensive knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice acquired through graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Extensive knowledge and skills in the application of the techniques and practices of the nursing profession.

Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of professional and non-professional nursing personnel.

Ability to direct and carry out prescribed medical treatments.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, patients, families, and physicians.
