Description

Performs any or all laboratory tests which require the exercise of independent judgment, ensures that all regulatory guidelines are met, and supervises the activities of the section/shift to ensure that all operational parameters are maintained.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, and/or EXPERIENCE

Approved CLIA certification (ASCP, HHS, NCA, AMT, or equivalent) required.  Previous pertinent laboratory experience, with demonstrated clinical and technical competence and prior supervisory experience desired.

REQUIRED LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS

Must have approved CLIA certification (ASCP, HHS, NCA, AMT or equivalent).

OTHER REQUIRED SPECIAL SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE

Must possess the ability to: communicate effectively (orally and in writing), establish and accomplish objectives,  function independently and under pressure, organize work to prevent delays, demonstrate critical-thinking skills, and promote collaborative problem- solving both within the department and hospital-wide.  Must have a working knowledge of laboratory concepts and applications, and all laboratory regulatory requirements.
