Job Description

 

The Employee Health Registered Nurse is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the employee health program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

    Tracking and trending injuries and exposures, making recommendations to reduce employee incidences and company financial liability. Through company information sources, recommends safety devices and procedures to reduce employee injuries, exposures and incidences.

    Monitoring results of new safety devices and reporting results. Investigating injuries and exposures and providing education to staff on how to prevent future incidences. Administering and reading PPD skin tests and evaluating signs and symptoms of positive reactors. Will offer, educate and provide immunization vaccines as required by the CDC/ TJC/ OSHA to include Hepatitis B, MMR, T-Dap, Varicella and Flu vaccine. Assures all hospital employees and volunteers are offered immunizations/vaccinations as stated in policies and procedures. 

    Providing blood-borne exposure follow-up to employees per OSHA/CDC guidelines, reporting trends to EOC via computer generated charts and reports. Maintains employee health files. Maintains OSHA log as required by law. Triages employee after a work-related injury.  Refers employee to ED for first aide treatment if needed, and follows up with employees. Makes rounds of hospital departments to note safety practice and employee needs. Assists with employee "for cause" drug testing. Performs annual fit testing and TST.

    Provides support to employee wellness initiatives.

    Assists the IC Director with other duties pertaining to infection prevention and control including mining, surveillance rounds, and other assigned duties as needed.

 

Qualifications

:

Education:  Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred.

Experience: At least two (2) years of job related experience.  Experience in Employee Health required.

Professional Requirement: Texas RN licensure required.

Certifications: BLS required
