Job Description

 

In this context, the role of Director, R&D Strategy consists of bringing the R&D dimension to Franchise strategy in close coordination with other R&D functions, notably Global Project function and Clinical Development as well as bringing the business strategy dimension to teams working on scientific and technological subjects notably those in Research function and in KITE.

 

Specifically, the responsibilities for the role of Senior Director, R&D Strategy – Flu Franchise & Nosocomial Franchise include:

 

In regards to Franchise Responsibilities:

Working in close collaboration with Global Projects Segment Head and Clinical Development Director assure the implementation of the recommended strategies emanating from the Flu Summit regarding:

Seasonal flu vaccine

Universal flu vaccine

New Flu technologies & vaccines

 

Lead & coordinate   the R&D dimension in support of the Nosocomial strategy including the evolution of the portfolio strategy in terms of targets, indications, and scientific & technological approaches.

Work in close collaboration with Segment Head and Clinical Development Director to assure projects advance in liaison with Franchise strategy.

Propose and lead work-teams on new technologies which would support furthering the evolution and progression of the Franchise strategy. 

Lead and co-ordinate R&D elements required for business development assessments in support of Franchise strategy.

Lead and co-ordinate the R&D components of initiatives/exercises linked to Franchise strategy

Anticipate – via external environment analyses, literature scanning, etc., evolutions in the scientific, technological and competitive environment potentially impacting Franchise strategy. 

In regards to Science & technology:

Bring the R&D strategy dimension to activities relating to mAbs and their application.

Bring the R&D strategy dimension to activities relating to expression systems and to the ANGE domain of KITE.

Lead/Co-ordinate/Facilitate environment analyses in support of ANGE domain of KITE.

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Strong scientific background & education – MD ou Ph.D (immunology ; microbiology, virology etc)

Proven experience and understanding of business dimension – ideally possessing an MBA

10 to 15 yrs in biopharmaceutical domain

Minimum 5 years experience in vaccines

Analysis and synthesis

Ability to work effectively in a multi-dimensional/matricial environment

Full understanding of the entire « R&D value Chain »

Capacity to work & manage transversal subjects effectively

Ability to develop and implement strategy

Leadership

Excellent relational and inter-personal skills

Proven ability to work in a team setting

Excellent communication skills (written & oral)
