Do you enjoy working with customers and being the link between manufacturing, customers, product development and applications development? We are seeking a Product Engineer to support our Engineered Products Global Fibers' markets. In this role, the Product Engineer will work with plant process and manufacturing engineers as well as the commercial team to address internal and external product quality issues. This position reports to the Senior Application Development Engineer.

 

 

• Provides internal technical service to Operations when customer issues and

complaints arise for existing and new products.

• Ensures accurate and consistent products definitions and quality criteria across all

production sites for the product line under his/her responsibility.

• Regularly communicates with all Product Engineers colleagues to ensure constant

exchange of best practices.

• Leads the new product and process development phase when projects move past

the Development phase and are being scaled up at JM's and customers'

manufacturing facilities.

• Identifies requirements and develops product definitions for potential new

developments that will lead to solutions that provide value to our customers.

• Keeps abreast of competitor's technology and product platforms and provides feedback to the technical and business teams.

Leads issue analysis using problem solving techniques and DMAIC based

approaches

• Leads and communicates complaint resolution response using inputs from the Key

Account Manager, External Technical Service Engineer, Customer Service Associate, Quality Manager, Manufacturing and Process Engineers

• Extends focus from filamentization to packaging.

• Maintains internal documentation capturing essential products specification criteria

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors degree in Engineering.

• 3 or more years of experience in product or process engineering.

• Experience with data gathering and statistical analysis.

• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

• Ability to travel as needed up to 30% (domestic and international).

 

 

Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Engineering

• Designs solutions for equipment issues.

• Creates manufacturing specifications by performing complex experiments to link product requirements to manufacturing capabilities.

• Communication skills (verbal and written).

• Manages multiple projects independently with strong project management skills.

• High energy, creative and innovative with entrepreneurial drive and work ethic.

• Experience working in a production environment and/or willingness and ability to work in a production environment during trials.

• Ability to execute on deliverables

• Ability to work within cross-functional teams that include manufacturing and commercial representatives

• Strong sense of urgency

• Willingness and ability to work hands-on to solve equipment and mechanical issues.

• Background in glass.
