Job Description
The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the plan of care for a specific assigned group of patients. Our staff member can expect to care for adult patients, including the older adult through geriatric, and pediatric patients from newborn through adolescence. The attached criteria based performance evaluation provides a specific set of standards as they relate to age specific competency.
Position Qualifications:
1. Education:
A. Graduate of a school of professional nursing.
2. Experience:
A. Minimum 2 years of PCU/Telemetry or ICU experience required within the past two years.
3. Specific Requirements:
A. Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse.
B. Current CPR/ ACLS.
C. Possess the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.
D. Possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and employees.
E. Knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures specific to Critical Care Nursing.
F. Clinically proficient in critical care nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the development needs of the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
G. Charge nurse experience preferred.
4. Physical Requirements:
A. Possess manual dexterity to manipulate technical patient care equipment.
B. Able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
C. Good general health and emotional stability.
D. Must be able to sit intermittently throughout the day.
E. Must be able to stand and move for extended periods of time throughout the day.
F. Must be able to squat, bend, kneel, reach and twist occasionally to frequently.
G. May be exposed to dust, fumes or gases occasionally.
H. May be exposed to changes in temperature or humidity occasionally.
I. May be near moving machinery occasionally.
J. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
K. Must be able to carry up to 34 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
M. Must be able to push or pull up to 35 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
N. Performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue.
