Job Description
The Drywaller handles the layout, framing, installation, and finishing of wallboard at the CMI customer site in Beltsville, MD.
Key Job Functions
- Read blueprints to lay out walls, snap chalk lines, and install metal or wood tracks and studs.
- Measure, mark, and cut drywall panels to exact dimensions; fasten them to ceilings and walls using screws, nails, or adhesives.
- Apply joint compound over seams, corners, and screw heads; embed tape, and apply multiple skim coats to create a flat, even surface.
- Sand dried joint compound to eliminate bumps and imperfections, resulting in a smooth finish ready for paint.
- Assess and repair damaged drywall, patch holes, and replace sections of existing walls.
- Performs other related duties as required
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must have at least 3 years experience in drywall installation and repairs.
- Mastery of hand and power tools including T-squares, drywall saws, screw guns, taping knives, stilts, and mechanical lifts.
- Understanding of safety standards, building codes, and insulation/fire-resistance requirements.
- Ability to collaborate with general contractors, electricians, and plumbers to ensure fixtures and conduits are placed before hanging boards
- The job is highly demanding, requiring continuous standing, bending, lifting of heavy wallboards, and working on ladders or stilts.
- Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Must be able to pass a government background check
