Job Description
We're looking for a detail-oriented and analytical GCP DevOps Engineer to join our nearshore team in Lisboa, Portugal. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain robust cloud infrastructure solutions on Google Cloud Platform, supporting our organization's operations across multiple time zones. You will work collaboratively with development teams to automate deployment processes, optimize cloud resources, and ensure system reliability and security. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging infrastructure projects while contributing to a dynamic, organized technical environment.
- Design, deploy, and manage scalable infrastructure solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring high availability and performance
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate application deployment and testing processes
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform to manage cloud resources efficiently
- Manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker, optimizing deployment strategies
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive solutions to prevent downtime
- Establish and maintain comprehensive logging, monitoring, and alerting systems for cloud infrastructure
- Collaborate with development teams to understand application requirements and provide technical guidance on cloud best practices
- Implement and enforce cloud security policies, compliance standards, and disaster recovery procedures
- Automate routine operational tasks using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go
- Document infrastructure architecture, processes, and procedures to ensure organizational knowledge retention
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide timely incident response and resolution
- Continuously analyze and optimize cloud costs and resource utilization
Qualifications
**Required Skills and Experience:**
- 3+ years of professional experience in DevOps engineering or cloud infrastructure management
- Advanced proficiency with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and architecture
- Strong expertise in CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools and methodologies
- Proficiency in container orchestration using Kubernetes
- Solid understanding of Linux/Unix system administration and command-line operations
- Demonstrated experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
- Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools
- Understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical mindset
- Excellent organizational and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
**Preferred Skills and Experience:**
- Experience with multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or other platforms)
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
- Hands-on experience with Docker containerization and image management
- Knowledge of Helm for Kubernetes package management
- Experience with incident response and troubleshooting in production environments
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps team structures
- Experience supporting nearshore or distributed teams across multiple time zones
- Certifications such as Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Associate Cloud Engineer
